It's very pleasant today with a nice light westerly breeze. I'm enjoying the cool and dry combination! smile Clouding over a bit now though.

Pretty unusual combo. This close to summer you would either expect cool, gloomy southerlies or very warm westerly winds. Does not feel like it should be November.

It's also another beautiful sunny, cool day in Sydney after early cloud cleared.

12-23C today, just slightly out from the 10-24C forecast, but pleasant enough for sure.
Good time of the year really.

Yeah it is very nice, after the hot weather we had. I like hot weather but it's always good to get cool days to make me appreciate the hot ones. smile

Penrith hit 27C today!! Did not see that coming. It's amazing how much heat a dry airmass can produce sometimes.

We only hit 23C but most of the afternoon has been cloudy.

im not really liking the big difference in rain forecasts between GFS and Access. GFS has now all but wiped out the rain that was expected over the weekend and into next week. Im thinking it may well win the day with the way things have been over the last 18 months. Todays runs should really start to settle it. Thoughts?

hope so.....GFS 18z still not going for it. I just have a bad feeling the others are are going to fall into line with GFS. My sentiment probably a legacy of a couple of years of crap rainfall around here.

For me it's a great sign that Perth is finally warming up smile means the patterns have shifted and we should start to see a more wet signal, especially with better avail moisture for the East Coast due to ENSO.

Yes Kino - A hot perth is what we seem to need for wetter over this side. Been one of my check points for years as well.

Perth does take longer to warm up than similar places on the east coast, as well as slower to cool down. (Mediterranean climates seems to have more of a lag effect, and have lived over there in the 90s as well).
I don't see a lot of correlation most of the time, but I am mainly looking at temps as opposed to rainfall.
In the meantime, no available date for today here, but was similar to yesterday, but cooler in the evening.

I look at it as PERTH being warm often means Easterly or NE winds. Quite often there can be a large high sitting in the Bight and that can mean easterlies or SE winds on the eastern side smile

Exactly - the synoptic setup for Perth to be hot means easterlies here and usually a heat trough sitting inland eastern NSW.

Huge Max of 17 here today - 7c below average - very La Nina'ish. Hoping this progged rainfall comes off; we could erase 6 months of deficits in 24 hours.

Not sure what my max was today but the temp hovered around 14- 15 degrees all day.
Much colder than I was expecting. I even had to put a jumper on when attending kids sport.
We had periods of drizzle, light rain and dry.
Looking forward to Monday. BOM still not keen on the 100 mm falls but as we all know, they are conservative with their forecasts even at short time frames.
I wouldn't be surprised to see them ramp up totals tomorrow.
At the very least, we in the Metro, Illawarra and possibly the Hunter will get a decent drench - whether it be 20 mm's or 50 mm's.

Got to 21C here today, had to go down to Sydney Airport and was only around 15.5C at lunchtime, and was freezing.
Glad those sort of temps did not reach here, but was only about 15-16C on the F3 coming home as well.

More relevant to the current event thread mate. See my post in there.

No probs, the last 3 of event threads seemed to be somewhat rainfall-centric, but the cool change is significant and part of the thread as you pointed out.
