Unfortunately for us Ken, this ridge looks like restrengthening again over the weekend. Good for inland areas though for rain and storm activity...

Part of that wet signal in the maps I posted is from near the end of that 2 week period, not just this weekend (and doesn't necessarily imply widespread heavy rain - it can be from periods of frequent showers aided by upper troughing which build up accumulated rainfall amounts).

But always better to have a deep moist NE type infeed to enhance rainfall rather than the cooler showery ESE type onshore flows from ridgey setups.

This ridging could be a La Nina signal, in past events we tend to get a lot of ridging up the Queensland coast in November before the monsoon kicks in. ACCESS is hinting at another rain event at the end of it's run.

I think your on the money with that Chris , inland storms ridging on the east coast leading to miserable overcast skies and showery weather for those of us closer to the coast and happy days for those inland

When the monsoon kicks in we get drenched.

It's not that common for the true monsoon/monsoon trough to reach this far south. Has happened before but only on the odd occasion.

15 day EC control looking like this:

Should emphasise that I am *not* suggesting that anything like this will come off, but the 00z was also looking very wet...so some signs that the wet weather (and potentially very wet weather) could be heading back to our part of the world soon. The majority of the forecast rain on this run comes from 10-15 days, so right out there in lala land, but these signs, particularly from control runs, are worth keeping an eye on. Feels like most of the pieces of the jigsaw are in place, just needs the quidge to breakdown and we could see a significant change.

Let's try a different host:

(yep, that seems to work. Nice colours right up the coast shocked )

(and these images are free from this site: www.weather.us <- I find it pretty amazing, can get the latest EC runs as soon as anywhere else with all the detail you want...)

I know people are already sick of this ridge but I'll take this any day over the endless heat and cloudless skies of El-Nino. Bad for our storm season yes but at least other parts of the country are about to benefit.

Didn't expect to see storms on the radar after days of autumn like conditions!

Been a few cells pop up over the mountains here today , I though I was going to here a rumble but hasn't happened yet. Couple of solid showers around.

That wet signal is interesting , see what unfolds over the next week or so.

Cheers

Interesting, GFS showing moist NE winds up to 600hpa during Saturday for the SE coast with enhanced rainfall. EC is also showing enhanced rainfall on Saturday with the help of the upper trough. Before the ridge takes over during Sunday and the upper trough moves away.
