Getting a moderately heavy shower right now as it intensified to an orange on the radar as it approached my suburb. There sure is a lot of moisture around the basin right now with these dew points of 18-20.

Light to moderate shower here. Shame it'll be short lived. frown

Thats a good observation Perfect. I was watching a heavy shower meandering north from pitt town to ebenezer (1 small rumble) when to the east scuddy maritime cumulus started drifting in from east. Usually a sign that the game is up but as you said after sunset life and crispiness did return to the poor cumuliforms. Havent noticed that very often. Sad to be excited by brief moderate showers but so it be

I was surprised a little while ago to be caught in a heavy shower as I got off the train. Must have been one of the small shower cells moving across Sydney from the East. Looking at the sky just now, it's low cloud and stars. It's a warm, muggy evening, like late Summer.

Definitely does feel like February. Chunky clouds reaching some h moving in from the east.

Here's a pic post short lived shower of another cloud trying to gain some traction. Love watching these clouds with some height to them.

Sorry not sure why tinypic always rotates my images side on

I noticed the same as everyone else today.
In non-meteorological terms, chunky clouds in the morning towering skywards with a few small but heavy showers about.
By about 2 pm, it had all headed westward and that scuddy [censored] came in.
Then, upon evening, I noticed some bulk again in the formations. I was pleasantly surprised.
After dark, I had a 30 second shower which surprised me. The rain drops were large and heavy, but it was gone as quickly as it came, and left that wet smelling rain odour which is hard to describe, but I'm sure we all know what it's like.
It's been a funny old day, and like I said yesterday, it feels more like February than November.

I was cycling through brookvale at about 9pm when a heavy shower hit, 200m up the road at Westfield mall the roads were bone dry. Talk about isolated.

The same here, it poured for 15 mins last night around 10.30pm at my home. I am guessing around 5-10mm at least. Gutters over flowing. Trip to work is just 2km and it must of hardly rained, bone dry ground.

Two narrow strips of rain have come in from the ocean over the northern suburbs and the far southern suburbs of Sydney, it looks like they are slow moving, so some spots might get a good drop or two.

Meanwhile the rest of Sydney... nothing.

Yes Rainbow Spirit. In Darling Harbour we've been getting a couple small showers which has resulted in it raining quite nicely for a while now as it's so slow moving and kept building to the east.

Only can imagine the kind of accumulations under the other two bands would be quite nice.

Hopefully something fills in the middle part of Sydney with this liquid gold. My area has a fair bit to catch up on.

Grass is back to brown and the soil profile is pretty shocking given how long the dry spell went for and the rain we did get did not amount to much. Lots of small accumulations to give the impression it had been wet.

Edit: Pouring now.

A sunny morning in Beacon Hill has become very overcast and still now. Been raining since 9 and getting heavier.
Hoping the sun comes back out later and things get nice and soupy.

Smashing down here now - and some good showers overnight. EC looks VERY wet over the next 10 days as well as substantially cooler again.

Seeing the impacts of a few things IMO:
- La Nina
- deeper easterlies
- better SST's ( i saw that they were 20c the other day, impressive)

Well done Sidney.

I planted my vegetable garden 2 and a half weeks ago.
The seedlings have no idea what rain is. They have received a drop, except for those 10 drops last night.

I'd just like a nice 15 minute downpour that drops a few mm's.
Hopefully, if the forecast comes to fruition, they'll get a good drop on Saturday.

Hope mother nature sends some down your way Homer smile.

Grass here has browned up since the past week so any rain was welcomed.

Those showers continued to head west after they crossed the coast this morning, and then died in the arse before they reached here.
Then, they redeveloped over the north west areas near Glenorie and Windsor/Richmond. I saw them coming and die. I then saw them rebuild to the west of me.
So frustrating!!

Oh well, looks like the hose for the vegies again this evening.
