Positives of this govt. Despite the fact it was done in a less than ideal fashion, history will record that marriage equality happened under this govt despite all attempts to prevent it from both the far right within the coalition and from the sp called 'progressive' parties. Not a hell of a lot of a lot of other good stuff though except that they are doing what they can to fight against full on socialism.

I guess the difference is they aren't the ones that are supposed to be leading the country right now. They copped plenty of flak while they were in government, and deservedly so.

Yep. It's funny how some are making jokes about short memories and yet they seem to forget what is right under their noses here and now. I seem to recall someone expressing his disappointment about a Liberal government around 4 years ago and their trashing of the NBN amongst other things. Yet suddenly they are the party of choice.

Looking more likely QLD Labor will form a majority despite how bad they are. I guess people still haven't forgotten the train-wreck which was the Campbell Newman government...

well i have to admit im shocked. not at ALP likely victory, but at ON. one of the Townsville seats of Thuringowa was favoured to go to ON but the labor vote has been in huge, and Labor has been on the noise in Tsv for some time. Also a surprise is Coralee O'rourke in Mundingburra, the "Minister for Nothing" currently leading, also widely tipped to loose her seat to the LNP is leading. Obviously i favour the LNP but she is/was very bad and useless as the Minister for Northern Australia. Recent ALP fund raiser with business and lobby groups, she was the only Minister to not have one single request for a meeting.

It's nice to see that the Greens are a spent force as well. SE qld will certainly be happy with the Labor win. I have little doubt though that we will see any form of good govt. I am not sure that is possible anymore. Regardless of who is in power

Personally I think the country is fooked at all levels of govt. We do not have anyone there who has the countries interests at heart.

Yep. A good result. LNP are corporate sellouts, Greens too dangerous and ON simply insane.

The massive failure of One Nation is the greatest prize. Far greater than the backward slode of the LNP.

Yea I am surprised your area with 12% unemployment and the train building industry shut down by Labor still voted Labor.

Their vote has gone backwards. 1.5% swing away from Labor.

It is only affluent Brisbane that has saved them.

Rubbish , they have picked up seats outside of Brisbane. It is much harder for a sitting government to maintain or grow its margin than it is for an opposition to do, yet somehow the LNP went backwards by a country mile. Th National party is obviously toxic in the bush now !

...and what of Pauline "We expect to pick up at least 8 seats" Hanson's effort? State leader wiped out, Roberts wiped out.

Let's focus on Labor shall we wink

What? One seat in the northern Gold Coast according to the ABC. If Labor were so good, why did they need to run a scare campaign better then Tony Abbott could.

But I see the people of Bundaberg saw the light.

But all it will really do is Labor will buckle down and suck up to Brisbane even more. It just confirms what they know in that they does not need the regions to stay in power.

Hence why I believe it is time for a proportional vote senate to be introduced into Queensland since Labor removed it. The power of government needs to be limited. Especially when like in Queensland, the power of government is near unlimited as there is no constitution to restrict it.

How many people here would like to see the federal government have full control of both houses? Able to pass any legislation they wanted? That is always the case in Queensland for the ruling party. Hence we get the stupid laws that get in, then repealed, then put back in again.

Saw the light? That's total comic gold. It is very likely that both seats here (Burnett and Bundaberg) will have an opposition member. If you think that is good for Bundaberg you are totally lacking in the whole structure of government.

Donaldson was smeared by Newsmail for the past two years at every opportunity for a late rates payment back when she was a single mother with 3 children after a marriage split. She worked her arse off for Bundaberg, bringing in Knauf, the ports expansion to generate future jobs, critical infrastructure in schools , funding for foreshore beautification in Moore Park beach, Burnett heads and Bargara and $20 Million in assistance to the Bundaberg council. No Bundaberg didn't see the light, they just followed the shephard. That shephard is the Murdoch press where none of her contribution ever got a mention.

At the end of the day your lot got smashed ,One Nation are a party in turmoil and Nicholls is very likely very nervous about his job. Labor were smart to distance themselves from One Nation after what happened in WA and everything they said about Nicholls had a precedent so it wasn't a smear, it was fact.

And speaking of smear, did you see Nicholls speech last night? What a gracious man he is wink

..and again this morning for Channel 7.

Yes, we should have an upper house ! Don't care which side is in, there should be a vote upstairs. But then it hasn't done any good federally .

Bruce Saunders has actually been a breath of fresh air for us, he has done a lot for this town for the time he's been in. He's very well liked by locals because he'll fight to get stuff done for Maryborough, not friggin Hervey Bay like the rest of the pollies around here.

Now the Queensland LNP is blaming Turnbull for their poor showing. They should be blaming every aspect of the LNP state and federal and its culture of crapping all over the less fortunate . George Christensen is stark raving mad and yet wants to blame Turnbull for his own shortcomings. At least he's not blaming Labor so that's something new.
