Models seem to be going to activity mainly in the Southern part of the GC and Northern NSW from early afternoon. See how it pans out

Im not sure what model the Bom's "Meteye" uses, however there going for heavy rain this afternoon shaded in red. Also "chance" of storms all the way from the sunny coast southwards, but as I said, im not sure how Meteye calculates the forecasts

My understanding is that Met-Eye shows forecasts that have been manually adjusted by professional meteorologists from output of NWP models. It is the official consensus forecast OCF. They are prepared separately for each state in regional offices which is why you often see differences near the state borders.

gleno: Flowin is absolutely correct - Meteye shows the end result of the selected models after forecaster adjustment.

No worries gleno.

Here's the output from the thunderstorm script for today (9am to midnight).
The good ole "drier W to SW'lies battling with the afternoon seabreeze/some capping/midlevel isothermal layer/borderline moisture aloft/if storms form, they could cause strong winds" type setup:

A real shame it's set to dry out from lunchtime onwards - can already see some chunky looking cumulus building along the ranges...but you just know they'll more than likely puff out in the next few hours as the lowers dry out. Today actually looked decent a few days ago but not so much anymore.

btw nice pics as usual Gleno. smile

Been watching chunky black bottomed clouds above me as well Mega & thinking, will there be a miracle?

Nice looking storm to my west here at Marcoola, was really hoping it would hold off until after 4.30pm so i can go take some pics. Are we expecting an early clearance or is there a chance of round two?
