We're better off watching the synoptic chart for the monsoon trough to start appearing above this side of Oz, Simmo.
Then we may be closer to seeing some action. Cairns A/P figures are 149.9mm down for this month alone. Only about 27mm for the month and none in the last 11 days is making the grass very crunchy to walk on.

Starting to look like the Dry Season again out here.

One of those teensy mini scattered shows came trundling across the northeast of us this afternoon. Somewhere got a little bit wet, we didn't. Heard a couple of rumbles which was nice.

Not too fussed about the monsoon hickory. Find it to be a bit of a let down most the time as the low that drags it down over us is usually to far out in the coral sea. Usually just gives us hot, sunny and humid weather.

Looks like there could be a few storms around next week with some good falls out your way C@28.

Yes December has been a bit dry. November stole all its rain.

Perhaps some good falls next week, especially in my neck of the woods. Having said that, the models back off pretty quick these days so any forcast outside of three days should not be strictly believed.

I am racing the clock to have all my landscaping and drainage sorted. I have been fortunate so far.

Looks like the dry season around the place at the moment. All the grass has turned brown again. Hopefully we can see some storm action next week.

Nice pic @28, currently sitting on Melb tarmac for last half hr waiting for a storm to pass. Saw a few nice crawlers in a storm that passed by near Lakes Entrance last night.

Thanks RF, it was an odd little storm, moving fast. Took about 4 minutes from the right side of the hill to the centre as I took a series of pics, and probably another 4 minutes to get right past it.

Still 38.5 degrees at 4pm
AccuWeather on my phone is telling me 39.

Birdbath evaporating way too fast.

No rain in sight.
Forecast "up to 50mm" on Tuesday but I'll believe it when I see it.

Cairns, Townsville will finish the year 300mm below average.

While Mackay has had 2100mm for the year and is 500mm above average. If I ever hear anyone whinge from there about it not raining i will lose it.

22mm here since October 19th.

Second driest December on record for Bilyana (43mm vs 298mm average) but 2017 overall was about an average year (2556mm vs 2514mm av) thanks to an above average October and November. In fact October was the wettest on record.

30.4mm for December brings me to 898.4mm for the year.
After a cool November this December has been my hottest in Mareeba. No real extreme heat though, hottest day was today at 35.3c, but just constantly hot, coolest day was 30.3c.

Looking like 2018 is going to start of very hot and humid. Hopefully it brings some good storms.

Hope everyone has a happy new year!!! grin

I'd like to know what the average humidity was for cairns over December. Temperature is one thing and rain is another but in my opinion this would have to be the least humid December i have ever experiened up here by a big margin
