Mt Stappy is down, the radar picked a bad day to get sick.

Ken that layers access C you put together is pretty close to the mark with a cell visible on the Marburg 512k at 08:00. Enjoyed your comments on MMM this morning. A good storm day indeed. Just have to watch everything as it unfolds.

After two days of hot dry westerlies, dew points down in low single figures anywhere west of the Brisbane river I just found it hard to believe any storms could be possible up this way. But as I was hanging out the washing for the Missus, I looked to the west(heard that Line in a song I think) and thought what is that and some cells already out there, so I thought I had better look at the radar & forums.
Cheers

Heavy rain and wind reported here. Lasting for approx. 15 now. Torrential rain at times. Damaging wind reported in the Leyburn area and I would not be surprised to see damage here also. My guess is 80KPH here? Some CG's but nothing spectacular. Oops, massive CG just a second ago....

Hope you get a nice drop Pete! Steady rain now with light winds. Plenty of moisture behind the main cell, so should rain for a little while longer out here..

Firing up way too early. This will just destroy any potential for more severe activity later today.

Still moderate rain here. We are currently sitting at 16.6C. Expected high this arvo is suppose to be 33C. I don't see us getting anywhere near that today.

Yep, was looking @ the radar for you guys with that lot approaching and feeling disappointed for you. Might fire up again later but still feels like missed potential. Currently 35/18 down here inland from Coffs Harbour, will be interested to see what we get, if anything. Looks like the main risk was up your way.

Yes Kev, could have been a lot better with more heating. Been really dry out this way, so we are just happy to see the rain.

Lots and lots of wind in Toowoomba, with gusts up to 58kph and all of 0.6mm of rain to go with it. I can't see the likelihood of a proper storm today, but live in hope.

Why have they fired up too early? Models were going for afternoon? So this will be it after these past ?

When I checked EC this morning, it had early activity reaching parts of SE QLD mid to late morning... then further activity later today.

There's been countless reports coming in of very strong wind gusts with these storms with some light damage reported.

Yep same...actually looks to be a second line going up over western parts of the Downs as we speak. I guess the question is how much would this morning's storms have taken the edge off the rest of the day / night - those storms also seem to have produced a lot of cloud cover if the current sat pic is anything to go by.

edit: For what it's worth, latest ACCESS-R still has a big dump of precip falling right over Brisbane from 4pm to 7pm tonight.
