Warm in the car today coming back from Cairns.
pretty hot here too for the afternoon, and the March flies have finally arrived.

Just in the middle of an unpredicted nice mild storm. Might get a couple mms at least.

Did I hear something about delayed onset of the wet season due to usually active monsoon activity in the northern hemisphere?

It's called a double equatorial trough, it's common at this time of year. I wonder what the Siberian High is doing?

Can you explain this further? Like what the Siberian High movements means for us here?

Hey DU. I think the strength of the Siberian high has a massive effect on our monsoon. The stronger it is the further south it will push all other air masses and it will increase the cross equatorial flow goving us the monsoonal winds. Pretty sure that is how it works. Someone please correct me if i am wrong

Back to pretty much brown here. Watering a fair bit to keep a little pick around for the livestock. Frieda, my Jersey, does not seem to be struggling though thanks to the Mango tree in her night paddock. She probably needs to go on a diet.

The green that was so vivid it hurt your eyes, has now faded considerably.

Coolish mornings down this way. More like October weather right now.

This last week has been pretty dry, but up until then we were getting some nice showers in the morning. I don't mind really as I have had a lot of concreting to do.

Might be a hot dry Christmas lunch. How Australian!

After such a promising buildup it is looking likely to be the latest start to the rains since being in Mareeba. GFS only have 5mm forecast from now till 1st January.
Things can change and I really hope they do.
I have visitors from the 2nd jan so will probably be torrential rain from then on. 😂
