I noticed that too Kino. Impressive! What does MCS stand for?

Mesoscale Convective System - a complex of thunderstorms that becomes organized on a scale larger than the individual thunderstorms but smaller than cyclones, and normally persists for several hours or more.

It could even possibly be the larger more severe MCC - a unique kind of mesoscale convective system which is defined by characteristics observed in infrared satellite imagery. They are long-lived, often form nocturnally, and commonly contain heavy rainfall, wind, hail, lightning, and possibly tornadoes.

Over water, these are usually the precursor to TC development.

Same here Jimi - Albion Park is a lovely 26; meanwhile on the coast it's a coolish 20/21!

Actually this should go here:

Sydney's forecast has been upgraded to 32C today. Seems possible given the very weak sea breeze expected for today.

I was expecting the sea breeze to get going fairly early because the Westerly was so weak, although it's picking up a bit now. The sea breeze is up and running at Bellambi (right next to the beach) and it just got going at Little Bay, but other coastal sites still have light North Westerlies.

It's up to 30 at the Airport with other Sydney sites on 28-29. If it reaches 30 at OH today (likely), that will be the first time sine October 30.

As if on cue, the Sydney observations page is having troubles updating. It has made 30 at Obs Hill but in these conditions it is more a curiosity site than any reliable indicator of conditions around the area.

That sea breeze will ruin things for sure today. However, at Beacon Hill the westerly is getting a bit stronger in the last hour. Of course that means nothing if the sea breeze wants to barrel in and ruin the party like the police in East Sydney on any Saturday night.

Such a beautiful day after weeks of low 20's / high teens and gloomy weather.

The sea breeze could be about to win out at Obs Hill

Of course it did!

It may be at the end of the forecast period but the BoM have put the magic 40 in the forecast for parts of the basin. Been a long time coming.

The southerly change could make things interesting rather than being a hindrance like usual.

On a completely unrelated note, I went on an adventure yesterday. I would highly recommend a drive along Braidwood Rd between Tarago and Nowra via Nerriga.

It was a fantastic road, bugger all traffic, very nice scenery and it is all completely sealed. Apparently the road conditions used to be really bad but now it is fine.

The Kings Hwy between Batemans Bay and Braidwood is also good. The scenery around Braidwood is great too and a nice old town.

Anywhere that has bugger all traffic appeals to me at the moment, after experiencing morning traffic around Bella Vista yesterday.

It's warm here (about 22-23) with light winds, mostly cloudy (mid level cloud) with a few sunny breaks.

I was trying to establish the position of the Southerly change just now. It looks like there's no "Southerly" as such, one moving up the coast as they usually do. It looks more like the light Westerlies we have now will turn Southerly all along the coast during the morning and gradually push inland.

We might see a storm this afternoon, then it looks like no more 'events' for the time being, unless heat expected in about a week's time becomes threadworthy.

Got to 34C here yesterday, more than hot enough to have the aircon going full bore.
Looking at some big temps next week now, 37 to 39C by mid to late week.
