Fire Weather Warning
for the Greater Sydney Region and Illawarra/Shoalhaven fire areas.

Total fire ban tomorrow. 'Sydney Region' includes the Blue Mountains and the Central Coast.

It looks impressive but there's little cloud in the area. Although it also shows in the Newcastle and Wollongong radars, I don't think those 'showers' are real.

My big high speed pedestal fan is at full speed trying to pull in cooler air from the eastern side of the house and expelling hot air out to the west side. Outside the temp's are down to around 25c, inside around 27.4c. The night time race is on to get the temp's down as low as possible before tomorrow's onslaught.

I know I must be the last to realise this, but if you double click on a weather site on the radar map, up pops the weather observations for that site! I've spent years typing in the sites to get that info!

Holy dooly, forecast for next Wed is now 43C in the Lower Hunter.
This is well and truly a heatwave, by whatever subjective definition one uses.
The thread title may need to be changed and extended.
Will be interesting to see if Penrith can beat it's current December record of 42.3C in 2009, which looks fairly weak by Penrith standards, esp when you have a 46.5C in Jan and a 46.9C in Feb. (and even a 44.9C in November 2014)
Records only started there though in Dec 1995. (there was actually a 44C day in December 1994 in most of western Sydney)

I remember 21/12/1994 well as we were living in Minchinbury at the time, mum had taken us down the St Marys pools and the water was about 32c, and it was packed to rafters as it was school holidays. laugh

30c here now. Looks like mother nature is preparing the ice bath for Observatory Hill as we speak.

Clear skies, light winds, NW as far as I can make out, cicadas in full throat and about 28-29. It's now about 30 over most of Sydney. The sea breeze is up and running on the coast, in fact, apart from dropping around dawn, it's been blowing for 72 hours +.

There's a cloud band extending from about Eden across Canberra to Forbes, but that's several hours away.

I can't see OH getting past the low 30s, but I think Western Sydney will make or exceed the forecast 40-42.

In my opinion I don't think it will win out, sea breeze looking very robust already and the wind at Mt Boyce isn't that strong. Unless the westerly grows a pair soon then it might be a struggle getting to 37c.

A bit over 28 out here.

Wind near 30k from NW - strengthened from about 8 am.

We will continue to warm gradually all day until around 6.30 or so I suspect.

Tennis tonight will be rather sweaty!!

Its going to tough for many people in western Sydney. Especially those in fibro houses without aircon. In those houses when its 42C outside its 42C inside. No escape. I'm sure Nepean hospital is going to be very busy over the next week. Good luck to those out there.

Solid easterly here and temp at 33C. Albion Park 31C with 21C dew point so it's really humid and sticky out there. Not a beach day though with almost 20 knot NEer, yesterday was much nicer.

Yet only 23 on the coast. Huge difference. That NE'er will keep major heat away unless it dies soonish.
