Probably just the start. The ASC is calling for Smith and Lehmann to be sacked.

Well the ICC has banned Smith for a total, wait for it, one match.
A joke!!

It will be interesting to see what CA do?

As mentioned above the ICC has made this rod for the games back. And this decision confirms that. Will be curious about CA as well, sadly it will probably depend on structure of contracts etc.

dont worry about the ICC ban , Cricket Australia have been smashed with calls for heads to roll. There will be a few getting a holiday out of this. If the so called leadership group agreed to it , they will all go. that includes smith warner starc lyon hazlewood adn possibly handscomb. What i would like to know is who was in the room that said , hey fellas , no , its a bad idea?

Well varying stories from within the camp. Sounds like a split camp alright. Bottom line will be smith amd his buddy warner can take a holiday. Tim paines head must be spinning , six months ago, he was about to retire, couldnít get a run for tassie. Now, captain of the test team , unreal.

Indeed it is unreal. I just read Smith may get a year long ban.

I think that is a sufficient enough penalty.

I really wish other cricketing nations would follow suit, but I highly doubt it!!

And that's the biggest problem with all of this. Games governing body just toothless.

Through all the dark clouds of sanctimony and self righteousness, the real story has started to unfold.

Now that the lynch mob is starting to dissipate, more light is being shed on the locker room. Jim Maxwell now breaking a story that Smith knew nothing of the nature of the incident other than the fact Warner and Bancroft were hatching a plan. It seems he may be merely guilty of being stupid.

I mentioned to a mate at the time that Smith looked more angry and annoyed rather than guilty and disappointed at the post game presser.

I wonder if he wasnít captain and this is true, would he be getting 12months.

This info has apparently come from within the dressing room, so you would have to believe CA is privvy to it? If this is true, then CA and Sutherland may come out smelling the most of all.

One minute the media is saying they deserve what's coming to them Then the same media are now saying "They" fear for their mental health because the media are saying they deserve what's coming to them.

Well that's the media for you. They'll run countless stories on bullying and then air thousands of ads for MKR showing piss poor behaviour of contestants to encourage you to watch the bullying after Easter.

As for the penalties, I think they are fair for all involved. It says something about the culture of the team ,especially with recent behavior off the field. Send a message to ALL sides that it is not OK to do this.

I do however think that there is a much bigger issue behind all of this that we are not seeing.

No problems with the penalties as long as similar penalties are applied next time for players from other countries (they certainly haven't been in the past).

I wonder if the BBC cameramen will be watching the English players as closely in the next ashes series as the South African cameramen were watching the Australians.

The penalties were in house imposed by Cricket Australia, not the ICC.

You see, the rest of the world donít see it the same way. So if we are all waiting for the rest of the world to follow our example you are going to be very disappointed.

2 matches is a long ban for ball tampering in international cricket. I think the punishment was harsh in relation to past offences. The punishments have been driven by the media and supported by a sanctimonious public.

Lots of glass houses needing repair across this nation today.

After watching Bancroft and Smith's emotional press conferences on their return to Australia, leave them both alone now and let their healing commence.

Anyone who is continues to go after them is now in "Who breaks a butterfly upon a wheel?" territory.

Media lackeys and keyboard warriors still attacking both are just now employing a superabundant effort in the accomplishment of a small matter.
