Ken may share this but check this lightning shot from Kingaroy; that was the type raining down on us first up.

A nice drop or two as this turns to thundery rain will be good and looks on the way.
Hoping those who got the intense activity will see some relief towards a more enjoyable weather show.

lol thanks Kazz, I was actually thinking of sharing some other storm photos but there's too many spectacular photos of today's storms floating around on social media to share on here.

So instead, here's the latest Himawari-8 cloud top heights imagery which has detected the Cb tops over our area as over 15km high (close to 50,000ft):

P.S. ozone doug, thanks for the hail report btw... always good to hear any hail reports from Roma

Dear lordy lordy it'd non stop on the radar for us, second one skimmed past to the West of us thank goodness. Looked just as bad as the first but as there's not a huge population along that track we probably won't get many reports about how bad it was.

I assume the Woodford folk festival is getting the annual washed out night about now; poor guys it happens every year it seems.

Just copying from a facebook post as it's so easy for them to get buried-

Lucinda Di Carlo "Twister at Hivesville Qld, tore trees apart put them through shed walls. Ankle deep with marble size hail. Fences all over the farm torn apart and down. Starting to get dark unable to check all fences and livestock."

Heaps of photos and videos showing massive size and quantity of hail all over the downs and south burnett, trampolines where they shouldn't be, and destroyed sheds/houses. Nasty stuff.

Meanwhile we still haven't had a thing here, patiently waiting for the rain to arrive to cool things down and hopefully get a bit of water in the tank.

Models are indicating there'll be moderate to possibly locally heavy falls tonight and into the morning along the coastal MNC.
Today will overtake March 15th (146mm) as our wettest day of the year if another 21.4mm falls here before 9am tomorrow. *grabs popcorn*

Have had a thunderstorm come ashore and pour down with 52.4mm in an hour (between 12:25-1:25am EDT). Strong winds for a brief period toward the beginning of it. The storm produced quite a reasonable amount of lightning too. The lightning was CC-dominant offshore but once it came ashore and over town it became CG-dominant. Nice bolts spotted, and there were a few very close CGs within 200-300m too.
We've now had 180.4mm since 9am!

Port Macquarie Airport has received 196.0mm since 9am (including 63.4mm in an hour between 12:00am-1:00am EDT during a storm there).

Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Heavy Rainfall was issued at 1:06am.

Morning everyone, wow seabreeze, thats some serious rain! Nice 40mm+ fall as well Mad Elf. Only 18.0mm here last night, but surprised to wake to a half decent fog this morning.

This was yesterday evenings storm looking SW. Crappy phone pic doesn't do it justice but it was a really mean looking storm. Can see how strong the inflow winds were by looking at the trees to the left of the pic.

Had some rellies over for boxing day lunch/dinner and a few made some comments along the lines of "what a fizzer" and "no hail in that storm." Thinking it would be alot worse to the west took a few for a drive a few k's west of town but geez even I didn't expect to see this:

Foot deep hail drifts in the table drains, trees stripped of their leaves and bark, a few trees snapped half way up the trunk here and there. Most of the stones looked about marble size but there were a few golf balls in the mix and that was a good 20 minutes after the storm passed over. Pulled a few smaller trees/branches off the road, an old bloke stopped by to help us reckoned he'd never seen anything like it. Defiantly one of the most severe storms in this area in recent years, pretty glad it wasn't over my place!!

Ended up with 242.5mm (till 8am this morning) here at my sister's place in SWR, it was pretty crazy how many cells formed up and sat overhead for so long and left decent totals.

Thanks for sharing the hail pics L.G., wow, there is a road under those leaves, that hail must have made a hell of a noise. Trees grow back, hope there is no other damage or injury.

Great photos and the input/reports from everyone. In saying that though I realise that from the photos and reports on social media and the news there was some serious damage, so anyone the has been affected by the latest rounds of storms my condolences to everyone and hope everything is OK.

Another chance today so it is case of watching the models and waiting for the soundings from Moree and Brisbane. Plus I have to say that Kens charts have been bang on the money once again, so thank you very much Ken. When you can run multiple scenarios and have a script like that it is awesome. I appreciate your time and effort on this forum.

236.8mm in the 24hrs to 9am this morning here. Heavy rain in addition to the very heavy rain we got in the thunderstorms helping us to receive so much rain.
The Christmas Eve, Christmas Day & Boxing Day rainfall total altogether here is 303.4mm (44 + 22.6 + 236.8). Not so great weather for those camping over Christmas in tents, lol.

Port Macquarie Airport had 202mm in the 24hrs to 9am this morning.

Hope you enjoyed your Christmas here. smile

Great photos of the aftermath Gus. Glad to hear the house and shed were spared in yesterday's storm up your way too, DNO.

Well said Colin. Similarly looking forward to Ken's probability script for today and yes- quite accurate for the past couple of days. 6.5mm in north Warwick past 24 hours. Plenty of action in our vicinity but again the heavier stuff bypassed Warwick - probably fortunate in this instance given the hail damage reported elsewhere. Cheers.

Yeah, don't know how we missed out on so much last night, but another 5.6mm in gauge this morning. So we've had about 15mm across the past few days. Better than nothing, but would have been nice to have more.

Here in Toowoomba, on the edge of the Range, we had 35.5mm, the wettest day since cyclone Debbie called in at the end of March. That puts us at 918mm for the year to date.
