Due to ongoing activity in the Day-to-Day thread, thought it Feasible to start this thread for all who focus on weather during the Hol's cool
Quite a variety of conditions for the rest of the year with troughing & some storm potentials through the period, particularly Tues 26th and Weds 27th at this stage ? Then a hint of slightly cooler temps leading into the New Year.

I'm sure some of you more dedicated & better skilled weathermen can add further insights as we finish of the Year & those who are out & about, travelling, camping, beach going, parties, bbq's etc !

Kind Rgrds, & have a safe end to 2017 cool

Xmas Day could have been a ripper for SEQ. Instead the timing of the southerly is all wrong and we get a rain band in the middle of the night or the following morning. After that it's all over.

I imagine NE NSW, inland southern QLD and central QLD will do well from this event.

Welcome back Ken, and yeah i was totally jealous of your trip. Hopefully Guyra comes through this year. But moving onto Xmas day and my wish is always for a ripper storm to cap ( Pardon the pun) off a ripper day. Bom have been increasing their thoughts for a storm on this day which is great, but i can't even see any color from both models covering Brisbane that day, so i don't get it. Looks to be fine all day from what i am seeing. ( Which will be a bummer)

If there is one thing that I like about the next few days is the backing with height wind profile. Hav'nt looked too deep into it as its probably not the most exciting setup as the instability would be moderate at best and weakish shear but I do like the way the winds turn with height as it would be favourable for atleast some showers and a few thunderstorms scattered.

22.1mm from convective activity the past couple of days. Everything just seems to be feeding on the high humidity.

Today's humidity not nice. No aircon and trying to clean spider web constructions, and aftermath of geckos added to discomfort. Left some spiders to eat the mozzies and themselves be food for geckos. Snakes so far are not many this year.
Hopein Monday brings some storm or at least cooling rain relief.

Monday and Tuesday look more to be unstable in this area over the past couple of runs. Most areas in SE QLD on Tuesday. Perhaps storms again for late next weekend? Might starting to be picking up a bit? The lower levels anyway feel juicy enough to support a good storm!

Went to Port Macquarie today. Humid and sunny. There was some relief though from the summer sun when thunderstorm anvils began moving over around 3pm. At Town Beach -

Storms around the inland parts of the coast about the eastern foothills, they were approx 30kms away from Port (lightning within the anvils got as close as about 15kms from the CBD). Photo from the top of Port Central around 3:15pm, looking WSW -

Quite a few clouds south of Gatton trying to grow tall atm. Himawari sees it as a line building? Nothing on Stapy, yet. Maybe later on?
