I suppose the Christmas / New Year holidaymakers might enjoy the fine and sunny weather courtesy of the ridge. But hopefully the ridge can disappear sooner rather than later, lol.

This year's Xmas Eve, Xmas Day and Boxing Day will be the polar opposite to last year's stormy Xmas Eve, Xmas Day and Boxing Day here when 303.4mm fell and 13 thunderstorms hit.

I still cant get my head around how the solstice occurs at the beginning of summer and not the middle of January when it's the middle of summer. It makes sense to me that the longest day should be in the middle of January. Even baffles me more that the start of winter occurs on December 21 in the northern hemisphere.

Having said that, the hottest time of the year on average is in January so I guess the thermal lag as mentioned reflects the summer months.

It's not so much the timing of the solstice that appears weird - it's simply that thermal lag which means summer and winter based on the meteorological system of defining seasons, lags in comparison.

The use of the summer and winter solstice to define when summer or winter occurs is far from universal as well. Some regions use the solstice to define their timings (astronomical system) while others use the meteorological system. Each has their pros and cons depending on climate and region.

That is a pain. I am ok with the Samsung Galaxy and IPad, I just googled but there seems to be an issue with certain plugins on some phones with updates that a lot of people are having. Seems to be after September 2015 it all started to happen.

I am getting tired of all the constant updates then app writers donít update their software to operate with the latest IOS. I have lost a lot of other apps that wonít update or work anymore.
Couldnít find a quick hack for you.

ACCESS7 day forecast has that Tasman high hanging around for at
least the next 6 days.
The ridging up the east coast remains for the next 6 days

I think that is called a blocking high or a stalled

Usuallya stalled synoptic pattern brings extreme weather of some type .In this case l suppose it is hot inland weather building.

So basically as long as this weather stays like this the temperatures and humidity is bearable. SE winds

Swing to the NE and humidity and dew point are horrible.
