Once again all the storms are firing just to my north.
Some nice rock hard looking cells this afternoon. Thinking this cell was between Taree and Port Macquarie, had no access to the radar at the time. Taken around 2pm.

Nice.

There is a BOM Radar Archive site here:

http://www.theweatherchaser.com/radar-loop/IDR042-newcastle/2017-12-31-09/2018-01-01-09

Very nice for catching stuff you missed or looking at loops and how the weather all moved grin

Change just crossing the border now, fair way away at this stage. Fairly thin on satpic indicates to me it's fairly narrow and not that unstable. Hopefully it'll kick on more as it collides with the fat slab of moisture along the ranges.

Warm, fairly sunny with patches of drifting low cloud and light E-SE breezes.

The radar shows some cells popping up on the ranges in the last hour or so. The cells West of the Bowral-Moss Vale area are moving to the E-SE, those further North don't seem to be moving much at all.

Looks as though we're in for a brief but intense pulse of heat, possibly only lasting one day (Sunday 7th).

Cells exploding to my w/sw now. Radar shows a e/ene/ne trajectory. Expect them to be severe if they mature.

Putty Road special occurring again, actually now into chaseable territory around Jerry's Plains. I am at work however.

yeah its a good one. I think would have some excellent structure. Its 60ks away from here and for about 10 minutes it sounded like it was over Cessnock only 15ks away. The anvil cloud is streaming SE with these storms and the storms are moving more in a NE direction. Guessing interaction with lower level SE wind and upper steering wind.
The anvil just cleared and its steamy hot in the sun again.

Storms moving in different directions going to collide over the southern Barringtons.... areas around Dungog, lostock, Gresford could be in for some interesting weather a bit later.

They don't particularly want to move off the ranges though, you can see the reluctance on radar.

Just slow moving, but beautiful teardrop satpic now, defin severe cells up there. Hope it survives the drop over the hills. Better. We deserve a storm.

That cell to the west of me looks great from Chatswood.

Good looking cell was heading nicely for us....took a standard evasive manoeuvre. Surely this afternoon has to pay something off the ranges. Shear isnt that bad.

Severe thunderstorm warning issued for heavy rain and large hailstones for a narrow strip of Eastern NSW from Qld to Vic apart from a coastal South of about Kempsey. Detailed warning issued for cells near Picton, Penrith and Yengo (wind, hail, heavy rain).

Fat drops for 1 min here, reports of decent hail from north of Dapto but unconfirmed. Missed the Illawarra again. Maybe round 2?

Jeez it's dark to the SW. Hope those cells can hold together. Still a lot of moisture moving in from the NE in the form of low cloud.

Cell coming in from the West, another feeding into it from the NW.
Getting darker here, some distant rumbles of Thunder.

Great storm clouds Eddy.

Unfortunately, anvil stuff obscures the view here, but the Western sky looks pretty dark and threatening. There were interesting cloudscapes to the West visible through the haze a couple of hours ago.

Just heard some rumbles, a bit earlier than I was expecting.
