Look like the entire basin should get a well deserved drink. Because there are some nice cells moving into every region.

Dunno about that. They're evaporating before they get here to Kingsgrove frown

Starting to get some CG lightning to go with the Thunder, wind has noticeably picked up.

Same thing here at Stanhope Gardens going by the radar there seems to be a wall just east of Penrith that the storm is hitting and then evaporating. Just anvil crawlers and thunder here, not a drop of rain so far.
It had so much promise to begin with as the storm was heading straight for my location until the severe part of the storm moved north east towards Richmond / Windsor.

Flash-bang. That was unexpected, the radar still shows storms in the outer Western suburbs and evaporating as they move East. There have been rumbles for a while. This must be coming from the anvil.

EDIT: no rain yet. I'm holding off watering the new garden just in case.

The trough is clearly anchored to the west hence why storms die once they detach from it. Hopefully there’s still some juice in it when it finally pushes across the coast.

Absolutely pelting down coupled with some nice lightning and thunder, nothing like a summer storm smile.

I heard the aftermath of that one from here Steve, thunder rolled for about 5 seconds.

Still some hope out there as we still have storms building to the SW.

Light to short moderate rain bursts here for the last 20 odd minutes with some rumbles.

Has been absolutely beautiful considering how rare the H2O gold has been around these parts. Definitely don't think it would have amounted to more than 3-4 mm at best.

Granted we were on the weaker side of the cell without getting a direct hit.

Hopefully some more H2O is on the way! smile

Light rain starting here again with some faint rumbles. Hard to tell what's going to happen as we've got a noticeable NEer pushing through and sky is a bit hard to read at the moment with no particularly distinguishable features.

A torrential 4mm here in 3 mins. Huge fat drops too. Oh well, clearing from the west now.

Would the storms 'riding' the southerly make it all the way up here?

Great chance - very humid n’erly / ne’erly ahead of it forcing great convergence. Pretty strong winds with it too, up to 80km/h possible.

Storms are still happening in the Hunter but Sydney is clear for now. There's another band of storms near Batemans Bay, 'riding the Southerly' which passed through Moruya around 8:14PM. Don't know whether they could reach here. Conditions in the small hours will be less favourable.

Today's storm here was like the others this season (12 storms on 9 days): some rumbling, closer thunder and lightning, even a close flash-bang, but only a small amount of rain. Across Sydney, most falls were under 5mm, at OH just 1.4 and it was probably about the same here.

Badgerys Creek picked up 18mm, the highest in the Sydney Basin. There were falls in the 30s and 40s in the Blue Mountains.

EDIT: Re Moruya - the Airport received 19mm in the 45 minutes to 9:00PM. The temperature dropped as low as 15.6 before 'recovering' to 16.4. Winds up to 57km/h.

That sure is one heck of a clump of storms moving up the coast and thickening. Hopefully the Jervis Bay stuff doesn’t halt its progress.

My internet was down most of the day, but to cheer me up we got some great CGs and a little (6mm) rain, around 5pm.
