Hi all , got to 33 c here in the Hobart suburbs currently around 25 c. What was the BOM thinking last night with a top of 29 c and then 31 c this morning , it was always going to well over that given the previous days heat. LOL
Well yes another record will be set this month for overnight averages and well over for the days as well. The heat extremes just keeps rolling on month after month , sad indeed.

Well my last post for 2017!!!!!!!!!!
What a year of weather.
Dry, warm and cold in winter with plenty of light dustings and some very heavy snow on the peaks.
Record heat in the last 3 months and very wet in December with 130mm of rain.
Finished the year with 721mm
Looking ahead
Looks very warm for Saturday 6th with a chance Hobart will hit
37 degrees with a total fire ban.

Happy New Years everyone!!!!!!!

Hi guys, can anyone tell me the probability of rain coming through in Hobart from 5pm Thursday?
I have a decision to make about setting a job outside or in, and itís dependent on rain of any amount after that time.
Thanks in advance👍

I would say basically 0% chance of rain at that time.

It's dry as a desert.
After the rain event of early December there has been nothing and doesn't look like changing any time soon.

Yeah forecast says 16 % which is zip , and the ants have departed the kitchen . So Plus 1 , WLover.
Well what seemed like a few mild days have still managed to push over average both night and days. The big heat and possible fire danger day is Saturday , so everyone take care .
I wonder how many more records will fall this month ? Looks like yet another very warm 3 days next week as well Thurs Friday and yet another heatwave day Saturday. Just the most boring dry hot system rolling on week after week , the place is looking more like New Mexico than Hobart.

Picture perfect day here not too warm and great temperature for a nice cool swim at Bellerive after my run.
Well SF it depends when that Front passes , I think we may dodge a bullet Saturday ( praying ) smile
I think the hot day will be next Thursday , no front to save us and the BOM keep increasing the temps by 2 c everyday. So currently 29 c but the time it rolls around we could be looking at a very good chance of mid thirties ?
One thing for sure it just seems like every week keeps throwing a 30 c day at us this Summer post the first week which was cool .

I just did a count and Hobart has had 11 , 30 plus degree days so far from the 1st of Oct 2017. Interesting also is that there have been very few 28 c 29 c , so when its been hot it's gone over that 30 c bench mark.

Think it just might nudge 35 degrees.
I'm so over summer and still another 2-3 months of it.
Especially if March is as warm as last year.

In huge contrast to last summer when we only had two 30+ degrees days.

Hopefully a cool February/March to make up for it lol

You get a 3 deg penalty for a late entry Snowies..
Doesn't look favourable for a big reading with so much cloud about, the satellite picture doesn't look great either.

Bit late to get my temp prediction in lol. grin

Really starting to heat up out here at Brighton despite the cloud cover and a few random drops of rain just minutes ago, just cracked 35.1C with the Northerly gusting to 50 km/h, good to see the TFS containing a couple Small fires around Molesworth and Grove quickly! smile

Evening all, made a top of 35.4C at home today about 1.40pm, was a nice morning outside with warm temps that was until the wind got up and thats where it ended, pretty gusty most of the arvo with the gusts getting to 81 km/h around 5.30, good to see no fires breaking out! smile

Looking like a similar setup as today for later next week with a front and associated low to pass the state, could have another TFB depending on the timing of the front, something to keep an eye on!

Still warm at home with a gusty Northwesterly. smile

Evening all , I spent most of the day at work in a tin shed and no fans or con and then spent the afternoon up at the tip face . I was really surprised to see the 36 c mark as it didn't feel anywhere near that . The gales have really picked up here now 10:35 pm so hope we get through the night without any flare ups.
As I've typed above I see Thursday as the real scorcher , now up to 30 c on most forecast sights . Well chalk up yet another 30 c plus day for Summer with more to come later next week. Also early days I know but we are in record averages once again this month and if this rinse and repeat pattern holds it will become a reality by the months end.

Yes the weather seems to repeat itself week in week out.
As H20 said windy last night, just drying everything up.
My dam dropped 5cm yesterday with all the watering we had to do to keep the trees happy.
