Hi all , the day seemed hotter than yesterday but temp wise it wasn't . I much preferred that cloud cover of the previous day as the sun just seared today , you know that stinging feeling on your skin even with sunblock. I think we ended up at 23 c so about par for Jan . The outlook is holding for Thurs 29 c and 28 c Friday and tomorrow will be reasonably warmish with at least 25 c.
What I did see appear now is a 27 c with high winds next Sunday so not looking forward to having to dodge that one . Stay hydrated everyone it's thirsty work this time of year smile

Could be QUITE cool down there over the weekend, some models have the 540 line close or possibly over the state for a short time.

Peaks could be interesting (or not) Line ball but a possibility of being quite cool if only for a short time.

Hopefully some relief for those like a few of us in here that love the coolness - hope you get some joy smile

Evening all,
Sitting at the Water front in Hobart and there is a light warm breeze with a temp of 21.3 degrees at 20 to 9.
Not bad for Hobart!
Getting very dry though, grass browning very quickly.
Just hope we get a good drop Friday and Saturday.

A touch over 28 c over this side of the hill today , same old dry hot conditions continue. Hobart now almost 3 c above the daily average and the place looks extremely thirsty now.
As I've said before it really is a boring rinse and repeat system that continues as evidence of this basically next Wed Thurs and Friday once again looking well on the hot side for Hobart.
Thursday already staring down the barrel of yet another 30 degree scorcher . (:

Yes the pattern at the moment is annoying and boring.

We have a couple of cool mornings from Sunday but rapidly heating up again next week.

At least we are all almost half way through official Summer. Counting down to the end of Jan and then the middle of Feb (when our nights usually start to cool a little) then of course wishing my life away to get to the start of March and a definite cooling trend in the nights at least.

Hi all

Hope everyone had a good break over the new year.

Must sit down and do my end of year rainfall/temperature stats. Have been enjoying the great outdoors the last few weeks, have hardly been near a computer, phone, TV.

Getting some pretty serious wind here, it's been steadily increasing through the morning. It's now a good 30-40kts NE with some much stronger gusts, maybe >50kts. The Tea Tree scrub is laying over at about 45 with the stronger gusts.
Mount Read has recorded gusts of 50kts, 59kts and 57kts (93km/h, 109km/h and 106km/h) in the last hour.

My vegie garden is getting smashed. Raspberries, corn, potatoes, sunflowers, peas. Anything with height.

...just started raining, wind is easing off too smile

NW Radar http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDR523.loop.shtml#skip looking good for some action. Hoping for a thunderstorm as the day goes on.

Bit windy there over in the West hey P!

Not to bad down here in the southeast, got a westerly now at home averaging 44 km/h gusts to 74 km/h, recorded a peak gust today of 79 km/h on the Inspeed anemometer, the Northeasterly was pretty blustery this morning, fairly warm today, however only reached 28.1C at home, looking intresting tomorrow with possibility of a few storms about in the arvo! will have to wait and see.. grin

Had a surprisingly cold Saturday night/Sun morning min following the rain and showers of Friday/Saturday - with an overnight low of 3.5 which was the coldest night since Nov 8th. Looks warm to hot for the rest of this week.

That is a cool night indeed.

Yes not much relief in sight for a week or two - especially up here. It is Summer I suppose but I don't like the constant hooter than average temps of recent years, much like most in here smile

The way the forecast is, we could have a 30+ degree spread in temperatures from midnight last Sunday, to midnight this Sunday.

Looks like a 10+ day run of 25+ for us, with a few 30+ days thrown in. Haven't exceeded 30 yet this summer.

Hi all , well a coolish breeze this afternoon on the Rosny golf course and it was a spot on day around 20 c.
As usual the cyclic heat is back again tomorrow and Friday with a chance of at least one if not two more 30 c plus days . Sure is getting extremely boring and brown down here. Will NQ ever see a proper wet season ever again ? Looks like yet another dud season with nothing breaking the East Coast heat waves.
And gee no surprise the heat kicks off again down here from next Wednesday again , round and around the merry go round we go.
Only a little over 5 months to go before our one month of Winter before yet another early Summer smile Tongue in cheek of course

Yep agree very much the same old weather.
Fire season is looking bad now with about 40 sites with a soil dryness of 100mm+ or more to get saturation.
Just pray for rain and light winds and we will be fine.

Yep MH - boring there and here as well - at least it is now half way through Summer. grin

Juuust under 6 weeks till end of Feb smile

Once Feb comes you know that the shortening days will help get night temps to moderate a bit, especially second half of Feb. I look forward to that and I suspect you guys do as well smile

Some rain would be good for a huge part of the country. Been a boring La Nina in a lot of places.

Well if you don't like it warm/hot and dry don't come here. Been 27, 25, 26 and 31 so far this week. Tomorrow could be mid to high 30's then 27-32 every day until at least next Thursday - and I suspect it could drag almost until the end of the month from there - possibly breaking around the 30th. The 27th to the 29th look very hot on the 15 day EC, especially the 28th.

Agree looks very hot later in the piece.

Just a warning to all, there is another Total fire ban tomorrow.
There were quite a few people who lit small fires today and finally the police are giving out fines so do the right thing and check out the TFS web site for these days before you light up.
No excuses any more just a fine.
About time!!!

Yes me three , looking at another potential heatwave next Saturday and Sunday & Monday week . This is after some warmish days all next week as well , might be the straw that broke the camels back me thinks. Certainly getting pretty fed up with it now and looking at the heat to come is doing my head in. crazy

A few place were really warm early this morning, Flinders Is was nearly 32 at 630 and Hobart has blown through it's max temp and is over 30 before 9am - generally indicative of a day in the high 30's or even a low 40 - except for that pesky cooler change later - may not stop Hobart reaching 35 quickly this morning.
