Hi Dave.
Just got back from Great Lake.
Nearly all the small trees have lost there tops with the weight of the snow last weekend.
Many trees down and nearly every tree has lost a small branch or two.
Lots of water flowing about up top as well!

More rain here at home with 8.8mm tonight.
Over 120mm for the month.

My Christmas day forecast for Hobart is dry or predominantly dry with a mountain shower, and 19c. That's from the gfs surface chart from 14 days out. * Subject to change. I don't see the chance of anything very warm or hot..

VERY envious of your temp outlook for the next week - my turn to cook now and you guys are more temperate.

However - like us no rain on the horizon.

I see the BOM revised the predicted Hobart top from 31 back to 29 this morning, struggled to get going this morning but close to 25 now. May be touch and go to reach 29.

Had 3 warm days at home week, 25.5, 26.3 and 26.8 - today and tomorrow will be of a similar magnitude. But most of our min temps are under 10 after a run of warm nights in the second half of Nov.

A brief respite before temps lifting again early next week - some model runs shows it could be quite hot.

DM - I noticed Bathurst has had a good percentage of it's annual rainfall since the start of Nov, a good 70+mm this month so far. Better than the 6 or 7 months where you had less than 20mm this year! I do read the NSW forum from time to time....

Hi Dan

Yep November & December good after such a horrid run.

November we got about 87 vs average of 61

December already about 70mm - not much in sight rest of the month but great anyhow smile

Several months were only a couple of mm, they were terrible.

Certainly looks like a mild run through Christmas - 850TMPs lowering to -2 on Christmas night according to GFS - if there is any precip about then potential for some light snowfalls.

Had some thunder around lunch yesterday and again last night, but most of the action was east of us.

Afternoon all,
Down at Port Arthur for 2 weeks fishing and camping.
Having a good time so far except when my bro put $40 of fuel down the rod holder into the bottom of the boat!
Foam and petrol donít mix. But do = naparm.
So now cleaning boat by lifting the floor out.
Lucky I am on holidays.
It is windy down here atm, havenít put the pots out but will try for a Cray tonight.
25mm hail reported in Scottsdale last night.

Oh my lordy lordy SF grin

Bit of polystyrene and fuel mixed, clearly not what you had considered as an ideal fishing day smile

Have fun despite the set back smile

Still looking fresh for Christmas eve and Christmas morning. Slight chance of a snow flurry to three on the mountain. Warming up thereafter, possibly one last chance of decent rain around the 29th/30th.

Recorded a min of 4.8 yesterday which was the coldest since the 9th of Nov.

I hope everyone is having a good time the weather has been generally good. Appears we'll end up with the second or third warmest December on record in Hobart by the way, this is for the combined min+max average, the warmth mostly tied up in the minimum average ( a December record, following on from records in October and November ). S we have ourselves a hatrick, this must be asocciated with warm waters and the summer tendency of easterly breezes blowing in and going on into the night?
Stalefish, thats a nice Christmas tradition there, once caught a large cray on a fishing line, it didn't get away either..

Good work Yep love the stats!
Never heard of anyone getting one on a line.
7 Cray fish now and about to pull the pots though be it a little late in the day.
The Bom have upped the forecast to 31 degrees.
That will help the averages.
