Edit - Just checked the BOM rainfall figure - most stations have recorded 0 or under 1mm in the area under the green band - backs up my argument.

the choice of radar location was a total joke, it was moved due to the cost of hiring the space at mt stuart, but should have stayed. there is no easterly view, bowen is much better, the 60km radar is pathetic as the radar is too far inland and its crap reading to the north as you stated.

Sometimes the radar is reserved to. Ive been under a light rain area and its pissing down. But yeah mostly its inaccurate. If its hardly raining up thete then that explains why its consistantly drying up as it comes south cos the fact is its not as heavy as it looks.

Inghams biggest floods have occurred in March - plenty of time yet smile

i note today is 20 years since the infamous 'Nigh of Noah'. It does not seem like that long ago at all!

Wow - i love the line 'Telecom Dial-It in Townsville (077) 1196'...

i remember this day, i was 10. the rain was relentless - we had brought a rain gauge for xmas and it was my job to empty it. i tipped out 500mm over 2 days! In those days we never had a computer so we were all listening to the radio. As for the flooding, we lived near Gairloch, where up until a few years ago, was the main point of reference for Ingham flooding. Gairloch is a 120year+ old concrete bridge across the Herbert, and was part of the Bruce Highway up until the late 60's, and was still in use as a back road until 2015 when it was closed amid safety concerns. Everyone would drive down the steep cutting to see the river heights - and on this particular day, the river was rising that fast, you could see it creeping up the cutting and also see the indicators going under water. from memory we were there an hour and it rose nearly 3m. There was a huge crowd - 50+ - and some nearly got caught trying to get back into town as the water covered Halifax Rd.
