Yep, I saw it too coming home from Singo from Harpers Hill- Lochinvar.
Temp 37.2C here now, but only 30.9C at Williamtown where the sea breeze has kicked in. Hopefully it will be contained soon with the southerly coming as well.

There are some cells about the Hunter and Lake Macquarie areas. It would be good if one could pass over the fire.

The Southerly is just working its way into Sydney now.

It looks as though the hotter air was to the North - top temps were about 38-39 in the Hunter, 34-36 in Sydney and low 30s in the Illawarra. Sydney stopped warming after about 1:00PM (solar Noon) in spite of the sunshine and the Westerly.

The heat's back Thursday, with Penrith now forecast to reach 43, 46 and 38 for Thursday to Saturday 18Th-20th.

Temps upgraded for next Friday now to 44C in the Lower Hunter.
Just checked Penrith going for 46C, now that is a brazen forecast.
Another record could be in the wind, but the old Richmond RAAF one from Jan 1939 is the real target at 47.8C, anything less would still be another "close but no cigar" reading.
Still waiting for Singleton to step up this summer too, the 47.2C from Feb last year is the target there.

Yeh!!!! This far out, that's a brave forecast.
Last week they went for the 45 and it got to 47.3.
A 46 deg temp forecast this far out is almost scary.

Summers seem to be getting more and more extreme don't they! This one is not as consistently hot as last summer but geez the highest temps are sure getting up there.

Turned out to be a better day than I feared. I was thinking overcast with an early southerly and rain to ruin the Big Bash derby.
But the cloud cleared and a hot westerly won the day.

Having a big argument with the wife who wants to install ducted air now. Air conditioning is mandatory for Tokyo's fierce Summers so she is not used to going commando like this. My usual argument of living in the coolest part of Sydney doesn't cut it now we have to leave a cat at home all day.

It would seem that, but "apparently" the BoM are manipulating us all.😒

Maxed out at 77km/h here today, which was enough to snap the tops off the two juvenile eucalyptus trees in the garden downstairs.

This gentleman is responsible for at least some of our summer power consumption.

Cats can be relied upon to find the most comfortable spot in the home.

Quite a nice pleasant day, warm and humid and almost a windless day up until about 4pm when the southerly came through although it didn't last long by 7pm it was calm again.
A few storms tried to get going, more so in the lower MNC and out to sea.

Some nice cold temps in the Snowy's so no doubt there has been some snow flurries as forecast. Thredbo TS is at 0 deg's with a small amount of precipitation still accumulating in the gauge.

Just 14 to 16 degrees across Sydney. OH has been down to 14.8, the coldest there since Nov 11 and nearly 4 degrees colder than any day in January last year.

It's mostly cloudy with a few blue gaps, gustly Southerlies and some showers about.

The BOM are still sticking to their forecast max of 23/29 (OH/Penrith). That might be a 'courageous' forecast.

Edit Reason: OH Temp
