Yeh, I think the 29 forecast is a bit optimistic.
Currently 18.7 here and it feels beautiful.

Yep, low 20s here too and only going for 25C.
A day without needing aircon here in mid summer is bliss.

This storm cell was of the coast of Seal Rocks last night, but by the time it got dark it had all but vanished.

Shame about the liquid amber - one of my favourite Autumn trees.

It's windy and mostly sunny here. It feels cool but the car thermometer was showing 23 degrees not long ago. I see that OH actually passed it's forecast, making it to 24.5. It is a warm site in a Southerly. Penrith and Richmond made it to 27, short of their forecast but higher than I thought they would go.

There have been some big wind gusts, many 60s and 70s. Wattamolla at 96kmh seems to be the strongest, followed by Sydney Harbour (89) and Sydney Airport (82).

There's a huge cloud bank to the East. The radar shows a chain of heavy-looking showers out to sea, just nicking the Eastern suburbs.

EDIT: just noticed the Severe Weather Warning for gale force winds for the coastal strip from about Seal Rocks to Sussex Inslet issued by the BOM at 10:22.

OH reached 24.5; Penrith reached 27.4 - ended up pretty close to the estimate.

Reached 14.7 here after an estimate of 17 - more like early October with quite strong SSW to S winds - cool enough to wear a parker for part of the day. Some quite darkish clouds moved across at times but no further rainfall.

Long range forecast, heat is peaking here next Saturday at 44C, Friday in western Sydney. (although both days will be very hot)
Looks like a 4 day heatwave.
This could be extended as well.
Today pleasantly cool to mild this morning, and not too hot forecast.

Yeah Derek...the drought is one thing, but just ridiculous heat waves one after another compounds it. Even when we get some relief its blowing a cold dry gale which is sucking just as much moisture out of everything. Always seems to be something at the end of the GFS run about 2 weeks out.....but it sorta just stays there like a giant carrot on a stick stuck to our foreheads.

I spent the day in Sydney yesterday and it was pretty nice up there but windy. But down here when we got back it was a rainy arvo with a temp of 16C at 4pm. Pretty crazy for mid-summer.

Not gonna lie, I'm actually enjoying this cool dry weather. It's a change from the usual and I like that. Wednesday looks like the pick of the days with 24C forecast with clear skies and light to moderate SW/SE winds before the humidity and heat returns in the following days as winds come from the northerly quadrants.

9.8mm from some short sharp showers overnight. Winds are still strong, the only good thing about this system is that its pumping some nice swell in.

Absolutely horrible day at mine yesterday, too cool and far too windy for my liking. Didn't do the plants on my balcony any favours, dirt and leaves every where - need the wind to go away so I can clean it all up.

Nice cool morning this morning at around 7.5 degrees.

Saturday max around 24, Sunday about 22.

About 1mm precip overnight Saturday.

About 24 so far today - will warm more in the arvo I suspect.

Nice night tonight at around 11.

The sun though has a huge amount of sting, feels MUCH warmer than 24 at the moment.

Then about (at least) a week long heat wave - not so nice.

Well it is Summer I suppose smile

Latest forecast has eased off ever so slightly for the Penrith maximum temperatures. Only a degree or so, but geez, it still looks like being a prolonged spell of heat.

Another pleasant afternoon if you stayed out of the wind, mostly sunny after a cloudy start. OH made it to 26.5, Penrith to 30.5. Tomorrow looks like being a bit cooler and more cloudy as that low in the Tasman drifts further West.

------

The models now show the coming hot spell lasting at least into Monday, although they've dialled the heat back a bit, with Penrith peaking at 43 rather than 46, while OH peaks at 32. The circulation pattern looks to be a weak N-NW, so the seabreeze will be up and running quickly to moderate coastal areas.

The change on Monday doesn't look strong. The heat looks like quickly resuming, continuing until about Thursday of next week.

EDIT: Unfortunately, storms seem to be off the menu until early next week at soonest. Apart from coastal showers in the next 24 hours or so, rain chances don't look good over the next week either.

Yeah was out and about all day and definitely hot out of the wind. But all you had to do was round a corner and the wind just blew the hair off your head. Nasty strong this evening. The blocking high is keeping that low in place sending that damaging swell on to the coast.
Looks like the usual councils will have to take another financial blow fixing the aftermath.

The blocking pattern looks good to deliver some sustained warmth once it shifts east.

Yes I think a sustained period of above average temps for at least a week, maybe and maybe 3.

Last nice cool night coming up tonight - better enjoy it.
