Hopefully it's not too late to start heating up because the switch has been flick to Northerlies.

No action out here today - we had plenty of radar returns but no drops apart from half a dozen isolated spots early this morning.

More clearances in the cloud is seeing our temp rise this arvo from around 30 to now a bit over 33.

Hot night for us last night with a min of 22.4 - almost record breaking.

Another week of +30 to come, no relief here until the start of Feb when HOPEFULLY a decent cool down will happen for a few days at least, maybe a week.

Sea breeze in now, the forecast max of 40C not reached today., (was about 36-37C), certainly not complaining about that though.
May even have got to Singo as well, which is unusual.

It was quite gloomy here a little while. We've had about 7 drops of rain. I note that OH picked up all of 0.4mm from that rainband that crossed Sydney a little while ago. It's now brightening up and the Sun's trying to come out.

Places less touched by an early sea breeze or none at all are racking up some impressive numbers above av max now. Around this region you have Cessnock up 3.5 degrees. Richmond in Sydney inching up towards 5. Too many other places to mention. Nights about av, if not a little below. That will change with the warmer nights this week.

Yeah they are pretty crazy numbers and this week looks set to continue being well above average.
And Toronto eh? Only just noticed the location change on your profile.

Looks like a brilliant Aussie Day coming up too, will be good swimming weather then a nice warm night for outdoor celebrations.

I don't like sleeping in warm nights though.. Only got down to 21.5C here this morning which is a very warm night considering the humidity to boot as well. I guess that's what we get for having four nights in a row below 15C and one below 10C (8.6C + new min record).

Sun's out this arvo and it's getting really hot and sticky.

Yeh Toronto. Little nest egg. Kind of semi retired now. Occasionally lured to a job but really not into the sweating like a pig from dawn till dusk caper now. Gonna turn into a fossil by the lake he he. And watch the boats go by. Nice part of the world.

I think the coastal strip of nsw has been pretty normal and around average this January I think. Could be wrong. Feels damn humid now

Today wasn't too bad. Thankfully the dense cloud cover up to mid afternoon kept temps moderate away from the coast. But now it is humid and sticky.

Have a feeling it's going to be a squall line if it makes it all the way here. smile

Yeah fair enough Knot, and it explains why you're not too bothered about the summer weather. Good to see you're back anyway. smile

Looks like there's a very weak southerly change working its way up the coast but it isn't a sexy southerly I'm afraid.

It's gotta get over the mountains first. Just spoke to Cooks Gap and they've had a decent storm out there tonight apparently

That sexy beautiful, gorgeous southerly will be coming along around the 30th/31st next week thankfully. I so don't like weak, pesky, teasing Southerlies

I don't think so, it is just a succession of above average temps from here for the rest of the month. Not heatwave worthy per se.

Isn't it ironic that on the current Australia region weather map we have no less than 12 lows present, yet in (western) Sydney we are continuing to melt under ongoing high 30s / low 40s temperatures.

By the way, what is the record number of lows to be found on the map at one time?

That would depend at what resolution isobars you want to draw.
