Yeah that's exactly what I'm hopping for to!
The whole thing just slowly creeps east
And doesn't weaken!
We always have the problem here of
Being sheltered by the rangers to our north!
Tends to break the rain bands up sometimes!

The forecasts show the heaviest rain tonight should be East of Melbourne so it could still pan out that way.

Maate, just don't dribble down the pane like I do when a decent downpour
happens above the eaves !

Welcome rain where ever it falls.

The storm is attempting to bypass the forcefield by coming from the NNW not the WNW!

Enjoy the rain and storms Vic!

Hot trip up to about Mallacoota 37/38C by the car, then E of Malla, strong NE'er progressively reduced temps till only 28C at Pambula. Nice cool (but breezy) evening here, first good nights sleep ahead after several shockers back in Maffra!

Change not due up here till after lunch tomorrow, chance of storms still being mentioned on local weather reports.

Has not let up here in Tarneit, my rain gauge has stopped reporting. Very annoying.

Two local stations have already collected around 40mm here, if there is more on the way. There will definitely be localised flooding tonight.

Sewers are blocked again. Rain filling them. God awful smell outside. Had to close doors and windows.

At long last, the bulk of the rain is upon us... but this is only the start haha! My instincts won out in the end. grin

It started around 8:30pm and got noticeably heavier 15 minutes later, and Balmz I'm glad you mentioned the rumbling as it confirms my suspicions mate. I heard thunder at 8:30pm and again at 8:50pm and 9pm. smile

Temperature's fallen below 20C for the first time since Australia Day, currently 19.8C. Still way too humid to open up the house though.

The Severe Thunderstorm Warnings have been cancelled, but the Severe Weather Warning has been updated to included much of metropolitan Melbourne.

TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST

Severe Weather Warning
for HEAVY RAINFALL

For people in West and South Gippsland and parts of Central, East Gippsland, North Central and North East Forecast Districts.

Issued at 8:14 pm Monday, 29 January 2018.
Weather Situation:

Showers and isolated thunderstorms over central districts will tend to a band of rain later this evening then move east overnight.

HEAVY RAIN which may lead to FLASH FLOODING has developed over parts of the Central district and is expected to develop over parts of eastern Victoria during the early hours of Tuesday, before contracting east and clearing later in the day.
9 hour totals of 30 to 50mm are expected, although thunderstorm activity may result in isolated higher falls of 50 to 80mm.

Locations which may be affected include Melbourne, Morwell, Traralgon, Sale, Moe and Bairnsdale.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Don't walk, ride or drive through flood water;
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains;
* Be aware that in fire affected areas, rainfall run-off into waterways may contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks;
* Be alert that in areas recently affected by fires, heavy rainfall increases the potential for landslides and debris across roads;

The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 5:00 am AEDT Tuesday.

Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 217. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
