Same as Petros' Maffra here today. Scattered large drops of rain for past 20 min; looking at radar I see we were on the edge of a sharp cell which passed over Bairnsdale. Must be embedded and towering above this flat muck we've been under all day. Quite a different day here, I suspect, to most of the rest of the State.

EC now has some rain each day for me at home which indicates a westward movement at least along the ranges, in fact 10mm tomorrow arvo which I will believe when I see it.

Anyway will keep watching the DP's to our north and live in hope.

After early fog was 26.4c for a high here before windy sunny arvo. Still windy and down to 14.4c atm.

Again the forcefield charges itself and kills off the great setup there was earlier this morning! When I checked the visible radar, I was salivating. Then the forcefield got started and RIP storms

IMO that's often actually a good thing! Assuming the atmosphere stays moist and unstable right through the remainder of the day, then the clearance we're getting over Melbourne should allow temperatures to rise and to cook up some juicy storms this afternoon and evening!

The storms we get during the morning are usually just weaklings anyways, compared to their arvo/evening counterparts which usually have plenty of time to take advantage of the Sun's power.

IMO I have a feeling we'll see some great action later; it still looks unstable and feels nice and humid, and having the sun out (and nothing to kill things off, such as a cool change) can only be a good thing in terms of storms. Hope I'm right! wink

Reached a hot, mostly sunny, breezy 31C here in Belgrave yesterday. Last night it dropped to 15.6C; looked foggy to the south this morning, currently around 23C. smile

Looks like thunderstorms will fire up from West as i can see heaps cumulus all over from my West to North of Bendigo and it might turn into cumulonimbus as we need Rain as very bone dry of only 2mm..The wind shear is bit weak of West to NE direction..

Got some towering cumulus on the horizon as I drove to work..... Good that it has held off, cap does seem to be breaking. Bad that I am at work. Might take my break if a storm comes through. I have the camera in the Car. A nice picture of CFA HQ with some lightning would be pretty good. I could sell it for thousands to the herald sun poke

The cell near Melton mysteriously disappeared off the radar, the cell near Wallan goes from NW to W and we will see what happens to the cells around Malmsbury and Kyneton 😂 the evidence is overwhelming 👏🏻

Cells on ranges developing very quickly and quite intense - and wet - Omeo has had And continuing) 26mm in less than an hour.

Very noisy to my NE and NW. Cloud broken with hot sun hitting the ground. Steering atm seems to be to E or ENE so storms might stay on the ranges.

So many lighting around Victoria hope no grass fires but wind is clam..Only thunderstorm outflow can do more problems with fires.

Looked promising up on the ranges mid arvo, ....but seabreeze arrived and killed it all off for N Central Gippy.

A heavily overcast muggy 32C here today. Baro unglued itself after a couple of days off and actually eased back slightly to 1006 hPa.

These cells are producing an insane number of strikes, numerous fires starting to pop up over the ranges with a number of spotter planes racing around before the sunsets, expect more to pop up in the morning. It appears these cells have some heavy cores but lightning is striking outside the rainband.

I think that's spot on Logansi. I agree that more will pop up.

Stuff to my NW is close enough to rumble but not sure it can make it through the SE wind which is dying a little. Got to 34.4c at 413pm before the wind changed. Its 23/17 here now and very dark to N NW and W

Edit: Checked rain gauge and we must have got 4 drops of mud rain earlier. My car at the station which is south of here had a significant coating of mud drops.

Is anyone watching the radar? There was a cell and it has split in two and one looks to drop under the CBD toward Werribee and one goes toward East Gippsland
