Sydney: overcast and 24 degrees, dewpoint 21. That's only changed in the decimal place since early yesterday evening.

Glad for this cloud cover or the temps/humidity factors would rise. Have a great day everyone.

Friggin hell. What a miserable cloudy day it is on the harbour.
It had better clear up soon or the whole day will be a gloomy bust.

Doesn't look good for the eclipse on Wednesday either. Very disappointing.

I'm over in SA at the moment(Barossa Valley)and its the same story Kizz, they have cancelled Aus Day celebrations and were under an "extreme heat emergency" according to the SES, yet it's 27/11 at 12pm with full cloud cover... The media/social media scare mongering is really getting out of hand these days and spoiling it for everyone.

Think the forecast in Adelaide was for 38 today. Only 26 there currently. But pretty hot Ood etc. So heat could filter there later. But what the heck! Canning events because of potential 100F day. Becoming a wuss nation as each year goes by. Ridiculous .

I don't bother with social media in these cases at all now. Too many twits. Pun not intended!

Last time I looked at a BoM tweet it was quickly cluttered with clueless idiots and conspiratards with their own nonsense agendas.
What a mess.

Agree.
Adelaide is renowned for summer heatwaves, in fact 2 x 42C days after today.
But today's 37C is hardly a heatstroke risk, one would think.
They don't cancel anything around here for those type of temps, which are pretty routine in summer.
Maybe once or twice they cancelled tennis, but that was for like mid 40s.
Going for 34C here for Australia Day, hot but not overly so.

We just had the best storm pass through Lithgow that I've seen all summer. Heavy rain, wind, thunder etc.

The BoM are just as bad & complicit.

Meanwhile it's very tropical here at 26/21! Massive storms over the ranges, slowly moving east but doubt they'll survive once they hit the edge (the more stable, cooler maritime air really is a storm killer).

But not minding the higher DP's as it lowers the evaporation rate so whatever rain does fall lasts longer.

TBH I think it was the position of the trough that prevented the high temperatures, because it was meant to retrogress but it ended up staying almost stationary. This is also partly why we've been having storms of late here in NSW.

RFS must be busy. Thats a lot of fires around the Wollemi national park. No doubt by those stationary storms around that area.
