In the ‘ville and it’s pissing down. Most unusual. Probably won’t last long 😎😎

Right on cue at 3pm down it came 1 hour and 30 odd mm later it stopped, but there was a good solid bit of thunder and lightning mixed in there (again).

Was wondering how you and Pogo went YS, nice little cell formed SW of Tully. We bolted at 3 as we would've most likely got bogged where we were.

The perfect, most lightning active storm out at sea... moving away... such a waste! Some real pearler-forks though!

How good have these storms been the last couple of weeks. The one that passed through town half an hour ago may have dropped the heaviest rain I've ever seen. The lightning went nuts as soon as it hit the sea.

I think you're on the money there Bunyip.
If we don't do well out of the approaching pulse,- the sucess of the wet will be dependent on the April pulse.

I was floating in the pool watching it, been an amazing year so far. As good as anything I experienced in SEQ. The locals think its not normal but are liking it all the same smile

Varies mate, depending on distance, shutter speed, frequency of bolts etc. I try not to go over 400 with my cheap lens as it shows a lot of noise.

Was it 2012 or 13 that was a similar bolt fest?

Awesome pics RF!!
Cells popping up around Atherton. A lot slower moving today so should be some good falls around. Perfect for the dam.

2014 - I arrived in August that year, I cant recall when it all got started but it was epic

Hell of a lot of cloud going up right now, not sure if there are issues with the cap/cape up top, if not then this afternoon could be spectacular

I arrived in July 2012 and only averaged 2 thunderstorms that were a direct hit per year till I moved to Mareeba in May 2015.
You guys in G'vale definitely do better than Cairns thunderstorm-wise.
