All that rain on the coast for Jan and Tinaroo sits just above 38%. You seem to be doing alright though Simmo.

It was nice to have a relatively dry January compared to last year..last month only received about half of the rain of the Jan before..1234mm for Jan 2017..

Sure was a funky old moon last night..went through some interesting colour changes..

We finished with 639mm for the month, yeah it was the ying and yang of years! 2016 we only recorded 130mm for Jan and the following jan was 1299mm for us.

The moon sure lived up to it's hype, and was spectacular to see. Best part there was no clouds (unlike the last time it occurred and it was completely cloudy).

I thought it looked the best when totality was nearly over. The two different colours.

So 10 days on from when we had that massive split in forecast rain by the models.
10 day forecasts were:

BOM Mareeba 10-50mm Cairns 50-100mm. Taken from the detailed forecast not the forecast map.
For the Cairns Mareeba area EC 25-35mm, GFS 200-250, CMC 150-200mm

What totals did people get?
I received 178.8mm, Mareeba 158mm, MAP 60mm, Cairns AP 222.4mm, Cairns RC 178.4mm.

This is the 3rd time since last night these 2 mobs of clowns have changed their minds.
So much for a 7 day forecast. A daily appraisal is a nowcast but I don't know what to call a multiple daily change.

In newspeak...I'd say they're ambitious in their accuracy.

Just went on 5 weeks leave, looks like I picked the right time! smile

Having dinner at the Waterfront Restaurant in Cardwell at the moment, definitely worth the visit for anyone passing through.
