flow keeps changing and the storms keep changing directions today. all over the shop. storms to the west are huge, but no chance of making it here.

Forecast looks great still, instability everyday, BOM have best day tomorrow with up to 60mm, surprising as the models show the flow increases thurs into friday, well some models anyway.

Steady rain has developed thru the evening as this low has moved closer, heaviest rain has been over the dam catchment so far which is great news. heaviest echos remaining behind mt stuart down to the dam across to kelso.

its coming to you today Wezza. The BFD is already at 105%, imagine what its going to be like after this low moves across in the next 36 hours.

But - i think the dam will go up to 30%, after tonights effort. With luck and decent ENE flow as the low goes inland, could get it above 50% by end of weekend.

Yeah the forecast for here today looks pretty good! I need to mow my yard at some stage though. grin

Let's just hope it hangs right over Ross Dam for a bit longer as it is needed there more than anywhere.

according to http://www.bom.gov.au/fwo/IDQ65393/IDQ65393.532020.plt.shtml the dam will be over the spillway within an hour or 2.

i think that spillway line is the bottom of the spillway, recording 24 hours ago was 20%, certainly wouldnt have gone up 80% overnight, as much as we would like to.

By way of explanation:

The spillway was lowered a few years ago to its current level of 34.656 to allow for installation of the flood control gates which gives the dam operator more control and the ability to release greater quantities of water as required.

The Full Supply Level is considered 38.60 (100% capacity). As the water lever rises above this point the gates are progressively opened to a predefined sequence (there are three gates) and the level of opening is dependent on the measured rate of inflow.

So still a way to go to 100% (FSL) at 38.60m. Would be good if the BOM page was updated to account for this as it is definitely misleading.

Bring it on and lets hope this upper low stays around for a little longer. Next week looking good too!

RR Dam at 24% and rising. Just what the doctor ordered!!

Quite dark outside, definitely Netflix weather. Still on leave at the moment, so I plan to enjoy all this!

Looks like the Low is centered around Alligator Ck at the moment?

Bah. Listening to all you Brownsvillians talking about great rain is sickening and unnatural. Not sure i can take it for long wink .
Seriously though. Congratulations. You needed it desperately and I am hope you get some good follow up rains over the next month. As long as you don't get too uppity and beat Cairns.
