It was even trained by captain cook Ed! For the farm gringos. Have 25*40,000ltr tanks ie 1 million ltr storage. Under 10% left and getting 2*8,000ltr drops a day. Got 8mm today at farm. 6mm at home. Have a 96,000ltr tank at home which is at 40% after todays showers

Every time it looks like the sun has a chance of cooking things up the cloud rolls over again and the fresh wind gives that late April feel. Got that Easter feeling which I hate.

The forecast for the week ahead finally has no below average temps. Beyond that the models can't agree. Can't agree even with themselves from run to run at times.

18.6mm in the 24 hours to 9am, some nice totals around the Bts with Carey's peak receiving 58mm.

It was a mainly fine day in the end with a top temp of 25.3c

The current 'event' (cool Southerly winds, showers) seems to be over. Chatswood picked up a useful 27mm, most of it in the early hours of yesterday. It was much shorter (5 days against 7-10) and less intense than it looked in the models a week ago.

--------

It looks like we have a period of benign sunny weather coming up with average temperatures near the coast, above average in the West, with what looks like a brief burst of heat late in the week. This is followed by a cool change early next Sunday. After that, as Kizz says, it looks unclear. Doesn't look like much in the way of rain on the horizon.

--------

Over here today, after a pleasantly cool night with a couple of light showers, it dawned sunny but cloud soon closed in and stuck around until lunch time. It cleared to a mostly sunny afternoon.

Blair was right when he said to keep an eye on the new Marrangaroo site in Lithgow this winter. It was considerably cooler again this morning than any other Central Tablelands site.

Glad some people had showers - none here, nothing in sight for a while either.

Getting to be very dry in many places now. Strangely enough showers the briefly green the grass but I am actually watering at home, which I don't usually do.

The run of cooler nights has been very pleasant.

Will be warm this week but not horribly so.

It is still Summer after all. smile

Monsoon trough seems to have disappeared. No moisture in feed from that direction. High looks like parking in SE Tasman again. Less cloud over the heat engines. It is gonna get warm. And dry. Bad combo

True Knot, but I also have observed that we can get good rain events down here between active phases of the Monsoon....arguably better rainfall as it doesnt precipitate in the north as readily.
Im seeing a sniff in the models of lower pressure starting to sit along the NSW coast and off the coast. Im not going to to get ahead of myself, but the retro grading lows in the Tasman and a bit of change in the ridging pattern from 7 days out could finally be starting to show the quidge in decline.
We basically want to see the opposite of the ridge...that is, low pressure dipping down the coast from QLD. Its early days, but I can see the beginnings of that pattern. If so Carrot stew time....if not...well we know how that looks.

If anything really occurs it would we be awesome, because we are sitting with a huge Tasman SST anomaly which will only increase with this ridging. Also imagine the precipitable water values since it is February coupled with the SSTs.

Lets hope something comes off with the warm SST, we had quite warm SST for most of last year yet not much happened in the way of ECL.

EC 15 day is showing some potential towards the end of its run as does extended GFS, but hasn't that been the story all along this summer? to see potential only to see it disappear a day or two later?

Yes Eddy you are right. Its early days. But I do like some of the synoptic action of late. They can be a precursor to a bigger change. But you are right probably just a carrot again.
