Thanks sharjay. It was pretty wild but the worst of it has gone. It's been a very long time since I've experienced a storm that intense and long lasting.
No power but otherwise okay. There must be a branch or something on the road out the front as I can see cars manouvering around something. Still far too much lightning around for me to go out and check.
Pretty sure all the water tanks will be full now as there was a lot of rainfall.

glad to hear all ok... we barely got a drop but wow the light show going on up your way was unreal...and i can still see heaps of lightning.. must be around 90 minutes of non stop lightning so far... hope the power comes on soon...sounds like if tress are down they have hit lines somewhere..another busy night for energex.. stay sage

Just checked the gauge: 70mm fell in just under an hour. All the tanks are full. Just can't use any water because there's no power for the pump 😁

And here comes the last round of our storm outbreak. Slow-moving storms riding the tip of the southerly just south of the border. Models were indicating this would crawl up the SEQ coast over the night into tomorrow morning.

Thought today i would go for a drive west to Yarraman as storms had failed to reach the coast the last few days. They had 3 different cells come over but nothing too severe. Right on sunset i got lucky with this bolt hitting the nearby hill!

EDIT: Came home to 45mm in the gauge too!

For all those living on the gold coast tired of waiting for something big and don't mind a bit of a drive, here's a tip. If you see some chunky cells developing out near Kyogle and moving north/ northeast and nothing else east of that, head up into the scenic rim, somewhere near Beaudesert won't let you down, takes about an hour and will never let you down for excitement. By the time you get there, the storms will be on the range making their way toward you. I saw some spectacular cloud formation and gusty winds a lot of close lightning near Jimboomba yesterday arvo. Came home last night to observe the same old tame stuff had arrived here. One day I'll make the effort to work out how to post these photos.

cheers gleno...shame i didn't have time to get to a more scenic location for it, but such is life.

Woke to find 19.7mm in the gauge for Salisbury from the heavy rain that woke me at 3.00 a.m this morning.

Great pic George...was worth the drive to get that.

A lot of damage around Montville this morning. Mostly fallen trees and limbs. Saw one old rusty shed that has been blown apart leaving a washing machine standing out in the open. Neighbour over the road has half a palm tree on his roof. The loud crack I heard last night turned out to be a tree in one neighbour's yard falling into another yard. It missed the house luckily.
Fallen power lines on Western Avenue may explain why we don't have power. The village has power though.
I went for a ride up to Mapleton and, while there is some debris lying around there the worst of the damage is concentrated around Montville.

I was awoken by a loud thunderclap at 3:50 this morning in Bowen Hills. Sounded like a bomb going off!

Wicked little storm just dropped on our heads. Fabulous lightning, thunder just boosted me out of my chair LOL. Some not bad rain either, only a few mm but better than we've had so far. grin

Please keep the gusts over there.
On the radar it looks like you are keeping it ; hardly moving, but we do have our now-usual black South West horizon this arvo. Anything to cut out this bright sun that we've only had a little while today, lol.
Although the way it looks it may slip west of us again. Oh well we'll take the shade though! lol
