Getting a bit tired of this Summer now.

Luckily we had a pleasantly cool morning this morning.

Days in the 30's for the coming week again.

Don't see a cool down here until very late in Feb at this stage.

Dry as buggery like many other places still.

Tassie getting some cool changes flipping through though now, I reckon the hotter weather will struggle to get re established again down there for any extended periods.

Just need that to gradually start moving northwards a bit.

However it's still Summer (February) and strangely enough warm weather is still likely smile

Well, sunrise is getting noticably later. Each day is now about two minutes shorter than the previous one. Peak heat seems to have passed, although Penrith and some sites in the Hunter are forecast to reach 40 on Wednesday. Those could be the last 40's East of the Divide this season.

The biggest change on the coast will be if and when it starts raining normally. March in Sydney can hardly avoid being wet, but sometimes it does. Otherwise, it won't cool down much on the coast until late March, but very hot days will stop

Signs of the approaching change of season:
- appearance of hot cross buns - tick
- NRL talk. NRL season kicks off March 8.
- End of Daylight Saving - April 1
- First Autumn colour - maybe another 5 or 6 weeks in Sydney
- appearnace of Easter eggs - not sighted yet
- first cool change from the SW - April
- need to dig out blankets and jumpers froim Winter storage - some time off yet.

Re deciduous trees - those on the road from Richmond to Windsor look in bad shape, with lots of shrivelled brown leaves. That would be heat stress plus dryness.

same Dave....totally over it. Its been rather unenjoyable. Im sure the urban coasties would love it though. Just awesome beach weather!

This lower pressure on the ranges and crossing the coast + more shear starting to lurk in the models. The upper atmosphere I sense may be threatening to become more dynamic so we may see some events. Still crazy hot, but maybe that heat can help pay up something.

@Steve. Postimage is great. Another quiver in the pic department.

Yes warm Pickle. This lake stink is so bad. So much more stuff in the water these days from when i was a lad. Just more people living around it. I remember how dark the western part of the lake appeared at night viewing from east side. Many more lights now. Lawn fertilizer. Sewerage leaks. Brake pad dust. Sunscreens. Cooking fats. Dog turds. A real soup. Add in no rain to speak of and heat. Pfewww

Yes Steve, the Deciduous are stressing around here too. Heat but possibly moisture stress mostly.

I'm watering my main shrubs n trees to keep them going. don't want to lose them.

I have lost some minor stuff already.

I can't see any proper rain out here for at least 10 days. Even then I'm just hoping for a damp March.

Concur with above sentiments.

This summer has been a total piece of [censored]. smile

Slowly starting to feel the bite of the sun bugger off as our hemisphere tilts away. Yep hoping this Wednesday is the last 40 for this summer.

Maybe when the magnetic poles flip we'll get a decent storm season?

The naughty 40's. Unfortunately some of that dark blob is going to ooze into more of NSW come Wednesday. And if the winds are up it might be very bad in places.

This summer has just lacked storms and regular rainfall.

I had a good look at my rainfall figures last night and for the past 21 years I average over summer (Dec, Jan & Feb) near enough to 300mm, this summer I'm sitting at 90.8mm.
My driest summer came in 99/00 when just 149mm fell.

Hopefully it can turn around sooner rather than later!!

Its all be sucked out of the tropics and sent New Zealand way Eddy.
Note the lack of rainfall FNQ. And that dry air indicated by some Feb record cold min temps this morning at some places up there. What moisture there is in tropics has been focused on NW Australia area and parts of NT.
Why the moisture has decided to abandon our skies this summer is the million dollar question given supposedly la nina of some kind

@Stormy and Eddy.
Check out last couple of posts in Climate driver discussion. As well as Gita sucking moisture there is now a probably unseasonal major storm brewing nth of PNG that could kabosh what of moonsoon trough moisture.

We can't look to Qld for cyclonic moisture. So where the heck is it going to come from
