Splendid weather atm. smile

Reached 28.6C here in Belgrave yesterday arvo, following an overnight low 11.3C. It was mostly cloudy during the morning, but the afternoon was mostly sunny (still cloudy to the south of metropolitan Melbourne over Bass Strait), with the hot sun offset by a refreshing breeze. Perfect for spending the day down in Narre Warren North, Dandenong and Glen Waverley. smile

The clouds began rolling back in after nightfall, and it looked like the lights at SkyHigh Mount Dandenong were being shrouded in fog as I was heading home through Scoresby and Ferntree Gully last night.

As for today...

Overnight low of 14.1C, reached a top of 28.7C this arvo, still around 27C atm. Another warm (almost hot), mostly sunny day with cooling breezes! smile

A fine day here after a relatively cool start, none of the drizzle that was forecast.

Came in from golf to 35C - just as predicted.

An hour later after re-hydration, it was 38C here. A hot one for this time of year.

But plenty of green grass (no doubt turning its toes up) in this region today. Our irrigation source (Lake Glenmaggie) is absolutely chockablock - best Christmas break possible for the multitudes of campers/holiday home residents heading there next week! smile

A hot couple of days here in Belgrave to be sure.

Reached 31.6C yesterday, mostly sunny with a pleasant easterly breeze and a comfortable night to follow.

It dipped to 15.2C early this morning, before soaring to 41.0C this afternoon. The Sun was roasting while I was in Ferntree Gully and Ringwood, but thank goodness I was indoors for the majority of the time.

It's been a toasty evening, but the cool change moved through just after 10pm. Currently around 26C. smile

Today's one of those rare days when it's been near impossible to determine the overnight low! poke crazy

Since yesterday's punishing heat, the temperature's been dropping very, very slowly up until until lunchtime. And the lowest it's dropped to today here in Belgrave is 20.0C, but that was recorded around 12:43pm. Currently around 21C, with the day's maximum being 24.4C which was recorded just after midnight.

As a guide, I almost always mark any specific day's minimum temperature as occurring between midday the previous day and midday for that specific day, preferably between 6pm and 9am. But of course the weather doesn't play by the rule book, so sometimes I have to make exceptions when it comes to record-keeping.

It's been overcast but dry and quiet since last night (no rain or thunderstorms so to speak of, and now glimpse of Geminids Meteor Shower). I wonder whether we'll even see any sunshine today?

Barely an hour after my last post the sun finally came out and it warmed to 27.4C! smile

Still warm and sunny out there, around 22C atm. Should be great for tennis later.

Very hot night at my flat-roofed house, a few rain splats this morning (less than a trace) followed by a partly cloudy windy westerly 26C arvo.

Anyone up to starting a Christmas day weather thread? - to me (reference: GFS fantasy-land outlook) ..looks mild and cloudy?

Overnight low of 8.2C, my new record low minimum for February here in Belgrave! The old record was 8.5C set on February 15th, 20th and 21st last year.

Absolutely stunning conditions last night for observing the Super Blue Blood Lunar Eclipse, with the high cloud staying over Northern Victoria and NSW/ACT, with low cloud over Melbourne's western suburbs, according to the satellite imagery. smile

But it was very chilly, around 10-11C while I was witnessing and photographing the eclipse! eek

This morning it was a cold reminder that summer has only four weeks left to go before autumn and winter. A rather raw, unpleasant wind when I went to the local shops around 9am.

But a lovely sunny day with a nice gentle breeze out there now, currently around 19C. Going for a top of 22C in the City today! smile

ASF, we have at least until the end of March for more Summery weather. Don't give up hope yet!
I sure remember last March being more consistently warmer than Jan or Feb in 2017.

Overnight low of 11.4C, reached a top of 34.1C here in Belgrave today.

Following a rather chilly morning (with dew on my car), it was a hot, dry and mostly sunny afternoon with fresh northerly winds, plus fluffy cumulus and increasing high cirrus.

At the last check it was around 22C. smile

Expecting a balmy night, followed by a blustery day tomorrow as a strong cold front moves through, mostly likely around mid-morning here in Melbourne, with a vigorous northerly airflow ahead of it. Should be a squally change with a couple of showers and maybe a thunderstorm if we're lucky; we might be lucky to scrape a couple of millimetres of rain as the front moves through. Severe Weather Warning for Damaging Winds currently out for much of Victoria.

PS thanks Weather Viewer! Right you are mate, even though there's only about 2 weeks left until the end of summer and the next few days will feel more autumnal, we still have at least until the end of March for summertime heat! And not forgetting the warmth that can linger through April into May. smile

Edit: despite my hatred for the cold, that frontal system on satellite is a friendly reminder that the 2018 Australian Winter Storm Season and Snow Season are on their way! Better than being stuck under persistent stagnant high pressure. grin

While the SWW was not as "severe" as some we see, like Samboz, what we got here really stands out in strength and duration. Quite a speccy event here today.
