Beautiful chilly but clear sunny morning here today, but then the wind came up and it was decidedly cold - even in the sun.
I had two jackets on at soccer at around 11.30, with the temp about 13 degrees with a howling W-NW'erly.

Cloud started to increase around 1.30 pm and it became fully overcast not long after. It's been a very cold afternoon, and even though the cloud has cleared now and it is sunny, it still feels cold outside. Currently 12.2 deg's here.

We avoided the showers that passed through the metro earlier. I'm sure there's been some decent flurries on the CT's today. The radar has looked quite juicy at times.

Re snow, I've seen a few pics and reports ranging from snow falling and not settling (even at Blackheath) to a dusting in some locations and 2-3cm at Mt Canobolas. Not much more than that I don't think. I was almost contemplating a snow chase this arvo and I'm quite happy with my decision of not going.

Yeh, probably a good decision. Hence why I used the word "flurries".
Still a few showers on the radar but looks like it's drying up now.
It's been cold though!!

Hi everybody, was out getting firewood yesterday at sunny corner, icy pellets started about 12.30 as we were finishing up. Stopped yetholme servo for our usual spring roll coke n coffee by which time it was snowing nicely. Sat n watched for about 40 minutes. Had started to settle on my car when we headed home. Had icy splats at home several times .

We are pretty much at the coldest time of the year now for overall temps, and virtually no chance of a warm springlike day.
Cold and windy today, still only 12.5C, and not going to warm up much by the looks of it.
Some cloud and a light sweeping shower yesterday arvo, 0.4mm total precipitation in the last 24 hours to 9am, which is not much more than a trace really.

9-15C the end result for the day.
And a bitter wind, after taking the dog down to the oval for a late afternoon walk.
Pretty much as cold as it gets with a dry SW flow and no rain.
This time of the year is now living up to it's billing for cold daytime temps.
The coldest minimums though tend to be later on in July, or even in August.

Cold enough again this morning, but with the wind, nowhere near cold enough for frost.
Still very cold, and the "feels like" temp is a couple of degrees or so lower, with the wind chill factor.
We are now at the coldest day/s of the year, so have to expect it.
Only 0.8mm of rain as well this month, and no rain forecast or only a trace, so looks like a very dry one.

The wind barrelled away all night near the coast, keeping the temperature in double figures, but it certainly felt cold yesterday evening. The sky is clear overhead and to the West but there's some cloud out to sea.

There might be showers later in the week but these look like being restricted to the coastal fringe, with no significant rain on the horizon.

Well, seems like our inane weather is coming to an end later this week with showers on Wed, storms Thurs & Fri forecast!

The culprit being another antarctic vortex skipping up and across, models don't really have much in the way of precipitation though, keeping it off the coast as usual. Hopefully they upgrade this arvo instead of the usual downgrade.

I am actually on the verge of claiming this year in NSW as the year of "Completely and utterly boring weather". I hope the storm season does better come November, but that has been on a downward trend for a decade at least.

lol & like that there's been some human intervention and it's downgraded to 'possible shower'.

Just some interesting outcomes that seem to be popping in the models. Our rainfall outcomes seem to better in the South although the North is sacrificed. Also another impending massive marine heatwave seems to be on the cards, although it is focused on our side of the Tasman this time. Although this will likely also mean higher summer temps especially east of the divide. Honestly I'm looking forward as this winter/spring doesn't look like it will hold anything good.

Nice graph of that sea surface anomaly, looks like I could even go down for a dip at Newcastle or Nelson Bay on that one.
Still, 10th July is statistically in the 3 coldest days of the year, so doubt it.
Cold enough, without being totally bitter this morning, no frost, around about 6.5C now.

Its actually not that bad in the surf atm DerekHV as I found out last Friday, fresh but not cold.

3.6mm from overnight showers, lucky I managed to get work done on the farm yesterday as I managed to get the ride-on-mower bogged three times!!
