Make sure to make a record of what this strange stuff is falling from the sky. Looks like the same stuff that comes out of the shower. But dunno he he

Raining steadily in Singo right now, only a small amount on the way to work earlier this morning around Lochinvar-Greta. Hopefully this is setting in at home, and across the Hunter now.

Definitely a strange feeling Knot. Is it drought breaking tho?. Highest in Hunter is Mangrove Mountain with 50mm. While Nobbys is on 11.4mm, it's highest day total this summer.

Williamtown also most rain this summer with 30mm. I suspect this may be the Trend for many Hunter sites today.

A fairly decent spread of good falls over night and this morning from the Illawarra to the Hunter and inland to the Central Tablelands.
Some of the highest totals for each region are:

Jillaby (H) - 67 mm.
Upper Calderwood (I) 74 MM.
Wentworth Falls (CT) - 66 mm.
Ingleburn (M) - 48 mm.

Observatory Hill had 1.8 mm.

The event seems to have finished here, apart from whatever might blow in on the blustery SE'er. The Sun's tryng to come out.

It was a bit of a fizzer here. Unusually, central Sydney, the North Shore and Warringah areas seem to have been in a gap, with falls uner 5mm. That light shower I reported last night was it: 2mm at Chatswood.

Inland parts of the Hunter seems to have done very well, including falls of 29mm at Wollombi, 25 at Cessnock and up to 51 in the Maitland area. Hopefully Stormy and Gringos got a share of that.

15mm here overnight. Great to see the rain.
We were in some major gaps and just had steady light rain when it did fall. No heavy rain trains like Mangrove mountain. It was just a matter of km's from the heavy to lighter rain so the rain totals could be quite different for places nearby.
We doubled our YTD rainfall so have to be content with that.

The ridge persists, but the uppers are more dynamic so it means weather events can penetrate and break up the ridge at times.... and eventually the blocking high might play in our favour...say for instance a pumping black noreaster into an approaching cutoff cold pool.

Gees the 67mm at Jilliby would have been super handy.

Glad to see some that needed it got a drop.

Thanx Homer. Jilliby is usually very green. Parched of late though.
Yes Gringo and Stormy (sound like a couple of bushrangers he he) would have got something.
A good amount in the jar Pickle
Cloud starting to thin a little

Any swell from Gita is now a fizzer for our area. Qld got the goodies. Wind is all wrong anyhow at the moment. So a quality swell would have gone to waste

Good stuff GringosRain, now for the follow up stuff, hopefully you wont have to wait too long for it.

10.3mm here, filled my tank up nicely.

And Knot, I had a look at the ocean 20 minutes ago, the arrival of the southerly swell mixing with an easterly swell makes for a very messy and lumpy ocean, plenty of white water around the rocks!!

Had 4mm here in Hornsby, most likely from the couple of heavy showers that woke me up during the night. Currently a cool breezy 22.4 degrees here, and much more comfortable weather than the last few days

Probably more effective than the 30-40mm we got here, which 90% fell in three bursts of 10 min showers. Absolutely torrential, but most in the ocean now.
