If the gov't public service clowns had left the CNS Aero radar commissioned . we would have a choice of the two, as we once did.
But they listen to the bean counters instead of plain common sense, and leave us with the one.

Does anyone have the link to the water level of Copperlode Dam? We are getting smashed here in the valley.

Attenuation due to the close proximity of heavy rain.

I would classify that as a boom of thunder. Not a bang, definitely not a crack but a boom. Pretty impressive for march

TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST

for DAMAGING WINDS and HEAVY RAINFALL
For people in North Tropical Coast and Tablelands and parts of Peninsula, Gulf Country, Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders and Herbert and Lower Burdekin Forecast Districts.

Issued at 10:27 pm Monday, 26 March 2018.
Extremely heavy rainfall over 100mm per hour occurring west of Cairns and Mission Beach.

Weather Situation:
Ex-tropical cyclone Nora is located 150km northeast of Normanton, currently near stationary, and is expected to remain slow moving in this area until Tuesday, when it should move westward over the southern Gulf of Carpentaria. Locations which may be affected include Port Douglas, Cairns, Townsville, Palm Island, Ingham, Ayr, Cardwell, Giru, Alva Beach, Rollingstone, Normanton, Croydon, Georgetown, Einsliegh, Karumba, Delta Downs Station, and Dunbar.
Extremely heavy rainfall is currently occurring to the west of Cairns, with falls of over 100mm per hour occurring at Copperlode Alert and Myola Alert (west of Cairns) as well as Bulgun Creek Alert (west of Mission Beach).
A Flood Watch and various flood warnings remain current for coastal catchments between Townsville and Cape Tribulation and several Gulf Rivers. Refer to http://www.bom.gov.au/qld/warnings/ for a full list.

Dam its ferocious here at Kewarra, the rain rate is insane... plenty of thunder too.

With all that rain up on the tablelands, me thinks the roads will be shut again in the morning...

Just talking to friend in Kuranda not given to exaggeration who estimated a rain rate of 125mm in one hour from the storm passing through. Said hadn't seen the likes of it since 2005/06 wet.
