Wow Simmo, looks pretty sandy is it?

Had a small one here too, either on the 9th or 10th; I think. Total of 445mm for those 2 days but not sure exactly when it let go as I've been knocked around with a dose of atypical pneumonia this month.

Finally cleaned it up a bit on Wednesday, 22 barrow loads, lucky the large rocks were easy to break up as so bloody waterlogged and heavy..

Wow RF. Good job tidying it up so quick after being crook. At least I don't have to tidy mine up as it all slid down into the river. Would have been thousands of wheel barrow loads laugh
I have a loam to sandy loam by the house. Have not dug down too much by the river but looked to be sandy loam there too. I will have a better look once it is safe to walk on. I am hoping what is left will be good enough to sow some pasture. Water is just pouring out of the ground there still and in a number of other spots along the bank so probably pretty high chance of another slip.
Really do not want any more rain now!!!

Yeah just a few plants missing in there now lol. Maybe you could stick some sort of fruit tree or something in there to help stabilise too?

Take the wet while you can though. I will be dry up there soon enough.

Jeesus Simmo that looks messy M8, is it river bank? Might want to chuck some Lomandria in on those areas or something to hold it together a bit more. Is that spring water in the pic or just drainage off the slip?
Sweet potato might give you a quick ground cover to keep the soil from washing off as well. That erosion can be a bugger once it gets started.

Lomandra is great for creek bank slips. Used to be a volunteer with landcare down south. Plants heaps of lomandra on the slopes and on the top of banks like yours. When it slips they go down with it, hold the soil together, keep growing and help to stabilise what has slipped.

As an example, here is some rehabilitation work on the Coomera River. Images 3 and 6 show the vegetation. The reedy plants are the lomandra.

You're probably not in TREAT's area, but it might be worth contacting them about what to plant.

The water in the pic is coming out the ground at the bottom of the 8m drop. Yeah it is a river bank and was under water for 24 hours the other day
There were a couple of small trees there too. They are gone!! There was a thick covering of guinea grass, so thick that the goats didn't like to push through it and stayed on the edge eating lol, which is a deep rooted grass and good at stabilising river banks.
I think this started down deep. Where the other slide happened there are a few very big trees and the ground has still slipped.
I had no erosion issues at all here either. Though I may now!! Will look at planting sweet potato when it is safe to walk on

Do you think the slip will get any worse, take away more land?

I really hope not but the way the water is flowing out of the ground has me worried. Where the other slip is there is a dense line of trees right on the waters edge so not much has gone into the river. There are massive deep cracks in the ground though that I was worried one of my dogs was going to fall in to.

I would definitely be getting some advice from a revegetation group Simmo. Some of them are pretty good at fixing river banks.

I just have everything crossed that GFS does not happen and I am sure everyone down stream of Tinaroo would be thinking the same!!!

it's an app. Google Playstore, but iOS would have it.

I don't like the look of that at all Simmo..
After a nice sunny day yesterday the heavy cloud is moving in quickly..

I wonder if there is any sand left at the Council sandbagging stations..?

You'd think if you were gonna need em down there you'd probably have them already laugh

Finished March with 1096.4mm second highest month on my records since Feb 08. Also 445mm was my 2nd highest 2 day total just behind March 4th-5th 2008 of 449mm.

Won't need those totals to fill Tinaroo, reckon 50mm would do it lol.

Have a look at the latest GFS Ron..if that comes off sandbags will be of little use anyway..

The boy is supposed to have his 17th birthday party on Wednesday...might have to launch the boat to ferry people in..

Low is already further north than expected for this time. EC has moved its rainfall further north to Mackay, Access has been steadfast for our area for days now, and GFS now more aligned to Access. Interesting next 24hrs.

I hope EC finally gets a run right. Never thought I would be wishing rain away!🤪

I fell 22mm short of 1000 for the month.
