Another above av night.I think we are far enough into March to have expected an average or below average evening at Nobbys or Norah as far as coastal region sites go.But so far every overnight temp has been over. The incessant overnight cloud cover coupled with a south easter wind has made it so.

And for coastal sites the the heat capacity of water is always a factor in all seasons. But most noticeable in summer and winter.

Our nights now definitely have a slight Autumnal feel.

It takes all day now to warm up to the max after cooler starts.

It takes a while to dislodge the morning coolness.

My house now is not warming up in the day anywhere near as much as just a fortnight or so ago. Another fortnight and the house will barley rise above 20 or 21 degrees in the day without actively trying to let full sun in and all windows wide to allow warm air in.

A real turning point each year (both directions)

Heavy dew the last few mornings, mostly clear skies although, we do get some overflow of coastal cloud at times.

I note Dave that the min at your airport site this morning was the first below av min so far this March. At least you have snagged 1.
Broken cloud and periodic sun here.

We all might get a bit of good rain later on if the tropical Low on the computer models moving down the coast from Queensland, the easterly flow under the low might bring it in onto the NSW coast.

Cheers Knot, yes a nice one this morning.

Still a warmish sort of week next week but the trend is that higher temps getting harder to achieve. ie getting to 30 is quite a barrier now. We may juuust make 30 on the weekend but it will likely be only for a brief time in the day.

Had 2.5mm overnight from a few showers. Helping with the evaporation and keeping a bit of moisture around.

The good ol high just keeps on though and rain is pretty much non existent in the next 7-10 days.

You may well see 30 easily enough next weekend Dave as the heat looks to be on a comeback around then.

Maybe stormy will be right and the TC will push across the coast, but the models have been pretty firm pushing it away to the east once it get to about the NSW N coast.

Its pretty nice autumn weather I have to say, but rainwise there looks to be zilch even out beyond 2 weeks. We really need to break this drought in the next few months as going into next summer with dams like this will be terrifying.

Just the 0.5mm here from yesterday evening, few solid clouds about that look like they could produce a shower or two.

Off to Sydney.

Yes chance of 30 getting harder Dave. Still common into April here though. But it has never got to 30 in May, June,July or August at Nobbys. Hope it stays that way but who knows.
Nearly a shower or two earlier but zilch.

Could be another heat spike indeed but at least it won't be 35 or so smile

Another beautiful Autumn day, a bit more cloud than yesterday, especially in the morning. Most of Sydney maxed at 26-27 after a mild night. There were a few spots of rain on the windscreen in the early afternoon and there was light rain just now. If it were to continue for a couple of hours it might add up to a millimetre. The radar shows a few small patches of light showers about.

The forecast is for Sydney to plod along at about 19-26 (+/- 1) for another week, with no significant rain in sight. Inland will have some heat, with Penrith forecast to reach 32/33 on four of the next 7 days.

I'll resume watering some of the gardens tomorrow.

Renewed heat for western Sydney would be a dispiriting thought for many that live there. I suspected this March was going to be warmer than normal.
Wish this useless cloud would bugger off.

Run of mild nights rolls on. Probable low of 21.9 for Nobbys. Nobbys March averaged min still above averaged all years summer month av min and above the av mins for 17/18 summer. Running a little over the all years av max. Don't think I can recall such an extended run of stratiform type cloud cover night after night.

Despite a seemingly cool March so far, with a couple of hot days it is bang on average for the month for places with long term records like Tocal.
Looking like staying on that trend too, despite a short heat burst next week, which is mild by summer standards, it will probably remain close to average.

Deceptively warm today despite it being mostly cloudy. Just a little sunburnt on top.

Big temps in parts of WA. Summer wont let go there without a fight. And I suspect we will get some of it eventually.

16-27C here today, virtually a carbon copy of yesterday as well.
Did not feel that hot though, was quite mild, aircon is off.
Looking like an increasing trend from tomorrow, but night temps are mild enough, even if the graph above says it is above average with minimums.

It's amazing how a little bit of rainfall can make everything green like even this week these coastal shower has made all the difference, although i was lucky to find my self under a sustained heavy coastal shower on Tuesday.
