Local news saying they hope to have fire
Contained by Wednesday, but are struggling
With the area it's in and how dry the terrain
Is and erratic wind. Also quiet concerned
About heat and wind this weekend

I heard the Incident Controller on ABC radio this arvo. He said he's hoping for a strong containment line on the southern side by the end of Thursday so that it doesn't move southward under the Frid- Sun northerlies.

ACCESS for Sunday morning has some rain wandering eastbound across the McDonalds Tk fire, if that model sticks from now to Sunday it may reduce max. temp and give quite an increase in humidity.

Sundays severity could also swing on the timing of the rain and S/W cool change.

BOM tonight - 31C max for Ellinbank(Sunday)

Yeah that's the model I'm hopping comes
True samboz. It should be fine if access g
Comes off! Like u say, a little rainy with increased
Humidity would be 👌

Tb- did the incident sound confident
They would have the fire well and truely
Controlled by weekend?
Yeah that southern and eastern edge of
The fire would wanna have real strong containment
Lines for sure, I work from time to time up through
The fire area and if it gets away from the cfa and heads
Up around mt worth and allambee/ yarragon south area
It's so steep and ruggered it would be nasty

Yes,Dooga; he sounded quite confident in the sense of it being just what they would do.

ACCESS certainly is most favourable but it's atm the outlier among the models.

To put into terms how significant they are taking tomorrow and Sunday, 3 choppers have been brought down from NSW, and 14 other aircraft brought online. About 12 aircraft already on the Snowy Range fire and 4 on the Seaview fire

I'm not sure what to make of Tommoz, tommoz
Night and Sunday??
Bom have a severe weather warning out for
Damaging west north west winds possibly
Gusting to 100km and then a westerly wind
Of gusts to 100km as well over elevated areas!

But in my opinion, I'm seeing strong winds on the
Models but not that strong??

With the Seaview fire supposed not contained and
Where getting 100km gusts then that could be very serious
Problems?

I attended darnum community meeting
For the Seaview fire on Thursday night,
Some points from meeting were:
-Obviously fire not contained.
-Targeting flare ups and hotspots around edge
Of fire.
-fire won't be fully contained by weekend due
To terrrain is just to steep and very difficult to access
Certain areas.
-worked hard on fall back lines to the south, south east and east
Of fire and have 4 of these in place.
-advised anyone that lives anywhere close to the fire
Should seriously consider leaving and suggested if he(the
Incident controller lived in the area, that he would not
Stay this weekend)
-said fire would have about 12hour push of nor west wind
Then turn very strong westerly.
-worried because fire had been so active
On mild days and had been so under predominant south West winds.
Bush and terrain very very dry

The incident controller that spoke was Craig ferguson

Also asked about how much rain was forecast
With the change on Sunday and said 10mm max,
But then followed and said what ever we get
Won't effect the fire!
That amount has now been scaled back to
1-4mm by bom

If my front garden s anything to go by forest fuel moisture levels are incredibly low. Its all natives and pretty much everything is close to or past wilting point. Got an email from one of those CFA community lists warning of the TFB and conditions last night. That's a first.

Snowy Range fire now over 7000ha and we now have a line scan map FINALLY

Not too much activity yet today on this fire it seems based on aircraft work (lack off) and smoke. Same goes for rest of the state

Yep from now on I would have thought the
Winds will start putting some pressure on
These going fires. Wind has just started gusting
Up here from nor west and we're only
Just getting started in terms of peak winds I think?

That's a messy perimeter. Non structure at Vermont Golf course. Sounds like one to watch for melburnians out that way.

And now advice for both Mill Park and Plenty River at Sth Morang. Sounds like Mill Park isn't going anywhere but the Plenty River one may give some trouble if if gets into the gorge. Winds round here seem to have decreased but expecting strongest winds later this arvo/evening.
