Spectacular day again, light winds and clear skies, some high cloud drifted in late this evening, thought a nice sunset was on the cards but didn't quite happen.

About twenty minutes after sun down a good dew is forming on the grass and metal surfaces.

Nice picture Eddy. Sunset on a calm body of water in a nice place, with all the reflections, is always beautiful.

----

It's warm, calm, humid and cloudy here. The radar shows showers about. Bellambi is closing in on 10mm, The Airport is on 1.6 and showers moving through the Eastern suburbs.

Thanks guys.

Some chunky looking showers on the Sydney radar, I wonder if they will become lightning active?

Mad photo Eddy. But for real of course those showers tracking north from the Illawarra towards me start to veer east. frown

20mm at Bellambi with solid under-radar drizzle right along the coast. Better then I expected!

Those showers about Sydney are developing nicely. They are hardly moving, just drifting very slowly Northwards as they grow. There might be some big totals if you find yourself under a red core.

Bondi is on 13mm, 21 at Bellambi, over 10 at afew sites in the Illawarra.

Nothing here, no sign of any lightning.

Those slow-moving cells did produce some big totals, with a pocket above 100mm around Mona Vale. Unfortunately, falls above 25mm seem to have been confined to Sydney's East and North. The rain is now mostly out to sea off the Central Coast and seems to be breaking up. I think it's pretty much finished apart from light showers blowing in on the SE'er.

There seems to have been no thunder associated with the system.

Nearby Chatswood picked up 43mm overnight, OH 53, mostly after midnight and mostly before 4:00AM.

Not a drop here. As well as majority of south western sydney. Which is a little disappointing.

The showers took a right after coastal Sydney and never got here. Shame. Still hangin off northern Sydney up to Terrigal way on central coast. Maybe come ashore.
Some high cloud here. Dry as beef jerky

Looks like one of those nights where it was a feast or famine with the showers not being as widespread as they could be. Though not all that isolated given the area of Sydney that appears to have been graced by rain.

We had 45-60 minutes of persistent rain last night alternating between light to moderate, borderline chucking it down before the shower finally headed off north toward Parramatta.

The shower kept back building so everytime I thought it was going to stop it kept coming.

My under tree canopy test showed the soil was completely wet bit over an inch into the ground (I couldn't check any further as I had to run for my train). smile

Looks like drizzle is trying to establish itself across the basin. Wouldn't mind more h20 ringing itself from the atmosphere. smile

Very grey and gloomy here. I still need the lights on. There's persistent drizzle / light rain. I notice that Chatswood has picked up another millimetre, but OH has had nothing since about 5:00AM. Sadly, the main system seems to have broken up. There's just what looks like this sort of drizzle or light rain showing on the radar, mostly over coastal areas and high ground.

Active drizzle continues here and not picked up well by the radar. Interesting observation about the rain is the tiny size of the drops. Pin-prick sized.
