i like the look of GFS a week out, keeps the CYP low hanging about for a few days with lot of moisture. sadly it seems to be the outlier at this stage with CMC, access and EC not having a bar of it.

would be nice to have one last bit of rainfall before this so called "season" ends. love it even more if the dam overflowed, that would be something!

I wouldnt wish for that...your be under water again...as the intial flood warning says it wull not take much rain to get the river rising.

an inch or 2 wouldn't hurt. in 09, we were lucky to have a storm that dumped 80mm on the place about 4 days after. no flood occurred afterwards - and the place was saturated after over a meter of rain in a week. the river has receded far enough now for this to occur.

Because the BOM see potential for rain/storms from this arvy onwards, and due to the waterlogged state of all of the catchments i guess they are preparing. Because if the BOM doesn't put out a warning then people will whinge if it floods, and if they do they are being too cautious. Can't win either way.

no its been finalised...

Final Flood Watch for coastal catchments between Ingham and Daintree
Issued at 10:02 am EST on Monday 19 March 2018

Flood Watch Number: 5

Rainfall totals of 20-50 mm were recorded in the Flood Watch area overnight Sunday into Monday. Showers are forecast during Monday, but totals are no longer expected to be significant enough to result in river level rises and minor flooding.

The BOM's reasoning behind the flood watch was self explanatory when reading the actual advice.

Better to be safe than sorry.

I still think they jumped the gun... rainfall predicted wasn't overall that much however i can appreciate them being overcautious.

some decent and heavy showers moving across the city and burbs this evening.

I flew back in from Brisbane on the late flight, hit some serious turbulence just before descending near Collinsville. Was enough for the pilot to throw on the seat belt light and a bit of a nervy quick fire announcement. My son had an open can of coke on the tray table, we dropped real quick and the can ended up about 20cm higher than the table before it came back down and spilled. rather exciting 60seconds.
