Don't hit your head on the (cloud) ceiling:

Screen shot taken from this site: Sydney webcam

Another grey and overcast morning, with very low cloud. Unlike yesterday, I expect it to clear fairly quickly. It usually does when it's like this.

It rained here most of the night as far as I can tell. It looks very wet outsde. I'm surprised that Chatswood only recieved 7mm since 9:00 yesterday, I would have expected something closer to OH's 17.

The rain was pretty much focused on Eastern Sydney and the Southern Central Coast, with few falls outside this area over 5mm. Most were about 2mm or less.

Well I tempted the gods too much over recent weeks.

I kept saying we will have bugger all 30 days in March - well that was obviously a challenge too much fun to resist.

We've already gone past our average number of 2.7 (had 4 + several days of over 29 too) and we have a run of 5 days coming up. I should have kept my trap shut smile

On its way to 30 at Norah head. With a seabreeze in mid March. You kidding me. And the hot spell coming up to compound matters. Who needs an El Nino

38c and 39c forecast for Penrith, Sat and Sun respectively. Joisus. That's some sting in the tail for Summer 17/18.

I would say there is a slight problem at Norah's Head temperature gauge atm, its 4-5c warmer there than anything nearby, its even warmer than Tocal, Maitland and Singleton.

About 25c here.

Feel like today has the potential for a storm day, with it really being oppressive outside and who knows the easterly trough might kick up something.

Couple of really light showers nearby out here - nothing exciting but maybe a few drops to dampen the concrete later.

Norah is strange for sure Eddy. Steve has posted about the site features. A hedge or two that cancels out its exposure.
Here is max anomaly map as of yesterday. I enjoy these maps as they just lay it out in a good visible way what the temp is doing over a large area. The biggest anomaly is around Dubbo way.

The BOM have overshot OH's maximum yet again. I can't see it getting past 27-28 in this very weak general Westerly circulation. Ditto Saturday.

-----

I noticed small bunches of blooms on a jacaranda yesterday, way out of season. Don't know whether they're left over from Spring or popped up recently.

They may have overshot OH Steve but I reckon they undershot here. Very warm with that hot upper sky look.

Don't know. It's a very weak Westerly, not strong enough to push back the seabreeze. The NE'er is up and running. If it follows the usual pattern, the temperature will plateau around 11:00 and hover around that value until late afternoon.

Anyway, we shall see. It is is beautiful late Summer day right now.

Nearly 30 at Cooranbong. God knows how hot it will be next few days if today is warmer than forecast.

Be almost a week before we get a below av day if we lucky, with the nights still well above av. Crazy.

EDDY - it was fun standing in the rain, not something we can do very often these days smile

Big drops wet me pretty quickly smile

Currently around 27/28 out here, will go higher later.

Nice cool down about mid week - looking forward to that grin

And to top it all off - I will be in Gilgandra/Coonamble this arvo and tomorrow. Around 37 or so up there today & tomorrow - just to expand the warmth experience smile

Beware the Ides of March!
And another hot 35C day, to show that summer dies hard here.
Looking at a few hot days over the weekend coming as well, before a return to more onshore and moderate conditions by mid next week.
