Is anyone familiar with Wonkey Holes?

Apparently they are offshore discharge vents of terrestrially derived groundwater through paleochannels, or ancient underground rivers which are still now continuously connected to the modern shoreline. Facinating.

I was only watching Landline on ABC the other day about an aquifer in North West WA that discharges just offshore. Apparently some Asian investor noticed black swans on the ocean and commented that they are only freshwater birds in his home.

That aquifer is now used for prime cattle under large pivot plots.

If you are on a trawler and you lose your boards into a wonky you then spend the rest of the night trying to get them out. In PCB offshore from the channel between Flinders and Stanley islands (Owen channel) the bottom is thick with them. The channel would have been the old river bed.
