There were a few interesting cloudscapes earlier, but they're now hidden by the anvil.

I think the storms will fall apart long before they reach the coast.

I see no reason why these storms cant reach the coast, shear is reasonable and plus most of the instability is closer to the coast.

Issued 30 minutes ago with the Terrey Hills radar depicting orange to red core near Penrith....

Sydney area

Mostly clear. Slight (30%) chance of a shower or thunderstorm in the outer west early this evening. Winds northeasterly 20 to 30 km/h tending northerly 15 to 20 km/h in the late evening.

I don't know how any competent duty meteorologist could issue that forecast.

They might reach you Eddy but sadly i think my opportunity is gone. Damn Penrith though with 17.4mm so far.

Possibly, but I think nightfall will kill them before they reach here.

Light rain here not really worth mentioning.

I would gladly swap this for an onshore shower showing up with the same intensity on radar.

Penrith did well but unfortunately unless you get a direct hit you won't get much rain wise out of this.

Rain and thunder at rosehill gardens. Hardly outer west metro. Ok steerage today. Once i saw development out west from top the Fleming stand i was confident in getting something.

Once again in a half decent storm season this would be a 1/10. The beauty of relativity. Cos even on slipper day im quite excited by a little thunder

Just a bit of light rain here, which is ongoing. No thunder.

About a millimetre so far.

I see Penrith picked up nearly 20mm, Bilpin and Falconbridge in the Blue Mountains a bit more.

Nearly 160mm in total from this event at Maitland Airport, other nearby places like Williamtown almost exactly the same, so good result all up.
Temps on the rise now too, peaked at 26C to 3pm today, before getting to near 28C a couple of hours later. The last week of March is looking very warm and above average from here.

Yes a warm time ahead Derek. Scone etc going to be toasted.
And nearly April. Still over 22 here. Best resign oneself to a warm April too. The tropics will see to that.
