Some nice little accumulations from these showers which as far as I can tell are expected to persist through to the weekend.

Not much left of these showers as they move inland, just 3.5mm here today, best fall in over 2 weeks. Mind you everythings still lush and green and soil still wet from heavy Feb rain. A couple more 30mm+ falls over the next few weeks would be fantastic going into the cooler months. Then a few months of 22-28 degree dry, sunny days and refreshing cool 4-12 degree nights before a nice big ecl or some other rain event. Not asking too much am I?? grin grin

Always going to be some places that get a lot more or less than others when there's heavy showers. I only got 10mm here.

Just squaring the ledger a bit here. As we tend to miss out mostly from thunderstorm heavier falls due to the sea breeze effect, we usually make up the numbers with onshore falls.

A coastal trough is combining with a decent onshore flow to produce showers along the coast and the adjacent ranges. In the far south of the region (the northern MNC and adjacent parts of the NTs), it is already helping to bring pockets of moderate to heavy rain/showers (some accompanied by lightning/thunder) and there are signs that heavy to perhaps locally very heavy falls could occur tomorrow. Showers or rain patches, possibly locally moderate to heavy, should persist into Friday and Saturday, mainly along the coast south of the border.

Severe Weather Warning for Heavy Rainfall is current for pretty much all of the Mid North Coast and southeastern areas of the Northern Tablelands. With the warning noting that:
- Heavy rain / possible flash flooding is expected to move up into northern parts of the Mid North Coast and eastern parts of the Northern Tablelands tomorrow, where 100 to 200mm falls are expected.
- Some locations could receive more than 200mm in a 24 hour period.
- Very heavy rainfall, with rainfall rates exceeding 70mm in one hour, are also possible with thunderstorms.
Link to SWW: http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDN21037.shtml

Received 22.4mm here in the 24hrs to 9am from two surprise early morning storms which came ashore with a little bit of lightning/thunder in each of them. 5.0mm since 9am, mostly from a sharp shower. Infrequent thunder has been heard during this afternoon/evening.
Elsewhere in the local region since 9am, there's been a number of 30-75mm falls in the area between Port Macquarie and Bowraville.

36.2mm in the 24hrs to 9am here. Just a touch too far north for the heavier stuff, with Seven Oaks only 12-13kms to our southwest getting 108mm over the same time. The highest totals in the 24hrs to 9am on the northern MNC reported from BOM's gauges so far are:
168mm Mt Seaview
160mm Comboyne Pub School
145mm Comboyne
128mm Kerewong
122mm Upper Rollands Plains

The SWW for Heavy Rain for the MNC and southeastern NTs remains current: http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDN21037.shtml

The overnight rain did push us past our March average (184.2mm) and a little over the 200mm mark for the month to date.

We've fared differently since 9 though, it rained moderate to heavily in this part of town for about 45 minutes (approx 9:30 to 10:15am). Almost all of the 29.8mm since 9am fell during it.

Flood Watch has moved northward to cover almost all MNC rivers in latest update:
Quote:
Flood Watch for the New South Wales Mid North Coast from Bulahdelah to Coffs Harbour
Issued at 10:19 am EDT on Thursday 22 March 2018
Flood Watch Number: 4
Heavy rain about the New South Wales Coast from the Mid North Coast and parts of the Northern Tablelands from Thursday onwards has the potential to cause local and riverine flooding.
A low pressure trough lies off the northern parts of the New South Wales coast. The trough is directing very moist and unstable onshore winds bringing heavy rain and thunderstorms across the Mid North Coast and parts of the Northern Tablelands districts. This may lead to local and riverine flooding.
A Severe Weather Warning has been issued for the Mid North Coast and parts of the Northern Tablelands Forecast Districts
The weather system is likely to bring heavy rainfall and has the potential to cause local overland flooding as well riverine flooding from Thursday onwards.
Catchments likely to be affected include:

Coffs Coast (local flooding)
Bellinger and Kalang Rivers (minor to moderate flooding)
Nambucca River (minor flooding)
Macleay River (local flooding)
Hastings River (minor flooding)
Camden Haven River (local flooding)
Manning River (minor flooding)
Wallis Lake (local flooding)
Myall River (local flooding)
Karuah River (local flooding)

I think that may be down to the fact that my rain gauge seems to have gone offline smirk seems that between 9-10 am it has died and is not showing up any more, it recorded that 4.3mm at some stage in that time and then that was it - slightly annoying.

50.4mm since 9am here. After the morning mod-heavy rain period, there have been occasional mod-heavy showers passing through.
Since 9am today, the wettest areas have been around Kempsey, with Boonanghi leading on 152mm and other gauges (including the Kempsey AWS) receiving over 100mm.
A minor flood warning is current for the Hastings River: http://www.bom.gov.au/nsw/warnings/flood/hastingsriver.shtml
Moderate to heavy rain/showers should continue about the northern MNC and adjacent parts of the NTs tomorrow.

No not at all, but I spoke with my brother and the good news I guess is that it isn't my weather station, their internet connection is playing up, sucks that it had to be today but I have my sister keeping a close eye on her manual gauge but other end of town (she is out near coles) - her readings so far are 25mm overnight last night and then 55mm since 9am this morning but that was earlier today. Still fairly close to the numbers you are getting.

163.4mm here in the 24hrs to 9am. Rain continued and became more frequent during the night and into this morning with heavy to very heavy rain at times, some embedded storm activity around too.
Widespread 24hr to 9am falls of over 100mm on the northern MNC. The heaviest falls were concentrated around the Kempsey area (Boonanghi's 302mm being the highest 24hr to 9am fall). The coastal fringe of the Coffs Coast received substantially less rain than elsewhere (e.g. 25mm at Coffs, 3mm at Woolgoolga).

SWW for Heavy Rain remains current for the MNC and southeastern NTs. There are a number of flood warnings too:
Minor to Major flood warning for the Hastings River (major @ Kindee Bridge, moderate @ Wauchope, minor @ Port Macquarie) http://www.bom.gov.au/nsw/warnings/flood/hastingsriver.shtml
Moderate flood warning for the Nambucca River http://www.bom.gov.au/nsw/warnings/flood/nambuccariver.shtml
Minor flood warning for the Macleay River http://www.bom.gov.au/nsw/warnings/flood/macleayriver.shtml
Minor flood warning for the Bellinger River http://www.bom.gov.au/cgi-bin/wrap_fwo.pl?IDN36604.html
Minor flood warning for the Camden Haven River http://www.bom.gov.au/nsw/warnings/flood/camdenhavenriver.shtml

The Oxley Highway is closed by flooding at Long Flat.

P.S. Nice work Befour.

163.4mm is pretty decent! what does that take your 3 day total to?

It was the 16th March last year when Smoky recorded 180mm, monthly total for that month was 459.8 (at smoky) wonder if it can be beaten this year? haha.

I see the good old railway underpass that leads on to Kemp street in Kempsey is flooded as per usual.
That thing should nearly be classed as an estuary with how often it holds water.

The three-day total here is 222mm (22.4 + 36.2 + 163.4).
I had 501.6mm in March last year, but I don't expect it be beaten by this March unless the next 24hrs or so are somewhat wetter than forecast.

Sherwood Bridge is under there, I promise (Bellbrook, Toorooka, Temagog and Turners Flat bridges are also closed)

I was just looking at the Sherwood bridge flood cam haha.

501.6mm, awesome! Sometimes I think it is a shame that the closest site to SWR is at Smoky as it can be vastly different to what you get in town - boxing day for instance, I think you recorded something along the lines of 230mm? I got 243mm and my pop got about 250mm yet Smoky only recorded 102mm.
It is a shame Fishermans reach is no longer recording, they stopped middle of last year for some reason.

My rain gauge is back online and I've registered 14mm in the last 15 mins. Seems it is still raining pretty well there.

For most of today it's been occasional steady rain here, but over the past 90 minutes there has been heavy rain at times. 54.0mm since 9am.
Elsewhere, most places receiving between 25-70mm falls so far today on the northern MNC.

Expecting the rain/showers to eventually ease and pretty much clear here by late morning tomorrow. I think any afternoon precip that may form in the lingering instability will remain inland of here.

Yeah, I've learned not to take too much notice of it these days. Typical exposed lighthouse site, nearly always under-reads when it's breezy/windy.
I'm guessing the manual gauge observer at Fishermans Reach has had a change of circumstance at some point during last winter, and so readings are no longer being submitted to BOM.

29.2mm event total for the past 3 days at Salisbury. Not as much as others have received, but this shower activity starts to add up nicely....the lawn mower will be getting a good workout today, the grass is going crazy.

Wynnum Nth 24 hour rain 0.2mm.

Event total 78.0mm

Also noting new TC Iris near the Solomons heading SW so far. Like Linda the northern arm of the STJ should curve it away to the SE. This time however the STJ is not as strong as when Linda was around.

Ended up getting 107.0mm in the 24hrs to 9am this morning. Close to 85mm of that fell in the four hours between 9pm yesterday and 1am today. The rain eased very quickly after 1am, with only some drizzle falling afterwards.

An event total of 329.0mm here (22.4 + 36.2 + 163.4 + 107.0), which definitely exceeded my expectations.

The SWW was cancelled this morning, and all rivers have fallen back below minor flood level.

I've checked Smoky's rainfall page and that's been reported in as two-day total, which is why it hasn't appeared on today's rain/river conditions map with the other gauges.
So therefore, the wettest 24hr to 9am totals at BOM gauges were:
120mm Redoak
113mm Woolgoolga
101mm Port Macquarie Airport

My mum took these yesterday.
Crescent Head Road closed by flooding (alternate route via Loftus Rd was still open but adds about 20kms to the trip between Crescent Head and Kempsey) -

Crossing the Macleay Valley Bridge on the Kempsey Bypass
Land inundated

A swollen Macleay River

More inundation near Clybucca

And closer to South West Rocks

Event totals over 250mm on the northern MNC:
Click to reveal..

Hastings Valley
431.2mm Mt Seaview
349mm Upper Rollands Plains
344mm Comboyne Pub School
335.2mm Birdwood
328.2mm Comboyne
314mm Maria River
287mm Redoak
261mm Port Macquarie Airport
250mm Long Flat

Macleay Valley
427mm Boonanghi
381mm Collombatti
356.5mm Seven Oaks
336mm Turners Flat
333.5mm Wittitrin
322mm South West Rocks (Me)
297mm Kempsey Airport
Had the rain been focussed a little further north and therefore been heavier in the more central parts like Bellbrook (which got 148mm) then the Macleay would've had a proper flood.

Nambucca Valley
285mm Taylors Arm
