Holy cow....Dormant and bunyip that's some amazing rainfall..

Down here we have probably cracked 300 mm in a day just once in the last decade....400mm+ is incredible......anyone know when was the last time that happened....?

Port Douglas 593mm to 9am is crazy but not surprising with the radar showing constant heavy rain echoes streaming down the coast over Port.

Awesome event considering the 2 major models GFS and EC not reflecting the rain had for the FNQTC in there forecasts.

The Port Douglas daily reporting site has come in with 593. Unsurprisingly, this is a March record, although not an all-months record - Port Douglas holds the Australian record for April (800.7 on 1 April 1911).

Quite a lot of the daily reporting sites haven't come in yet (I imagine the conditions are not doing wonders for communications), so there could still be some interesting numbers to come.

Rain seems to be building again and coming from the NNW.
I really don't want anymore. Most of the flat land on my property has about an inch or more of water sitting on it. My back lawn has large mounds which where not there yesterday. I can drive a green garden stake straight into the ground abut 1.2m deep with one hand. It smells like a swamp, a smell I have not smelt since living in Redlynch where algae would grow in the lawn.

It looked like it was clearing up this morning. But we've had intermittent drizzle, all day, and the odd bit of rain for a few odd minutes here and there.

Bloody hell Simmo...I think your goats might grow webbed feet by tomorrow..

A lot of rainfall materialising on the radar west of Cairns....good for Tinaroo....

I hope we don't get swamped tonight as well...I'm still blown away from that 593mm at Port Douglas....We have a Pommy staying with us at the moment...he cant really comprehend that Port Douglas got Londons entire Annual average rainfall in one day....its hard to put that in perspective I reckon..
