Correction..

Water will exchange its stored heat 'less' readily after dark than soil.

Fizzics lol. What about fuzzics . Kiwi pronunciation lol

Was quite cold this morn'; –1.3° C at Marrangaroo, Lithgow; 0.9° C at Norway, Black Springs; reports of –1.7° C at Blayney, Kings Plains. Can't bloody wait for winter if it's already plunging below freezing!

I hope this winter proves sunny, with severe frost and no subarctic stratocrap southerlies (I don't like snow in my ideal inland climates, either). Last year's winter was bloody epic! grin

Nothing but subarctic southerly full overcast stratocrap the past few weeks mad mad mad

Very forthright initial post grin

You may have more of an issue with snow in your ideal location than most of us smile

Welcome aboard, another CT poster is great smile

Yes welcome aboard Whaler.
Hmm. The kind of winter you desire this year is the very antithesis of what I desire for a winter. Each to their own. I really dislike the overly positive Sam winters. Lack of good fronts up this way. Bight highs hundreds of kms too far south and not bullseyed over the Alice. Still, clear and crisp, but otherwise banal nights followed by above av days. No thanx. Overdue for a full on frontal winter in these parts. They just couldn't elbow their way up this far last year. A few half cocked ones did. And what winter there was lasted 4 weeks I reckon.

Welcome AW! Great to know we have another poster from the CT's - especially from Black Springs. Hope you hang around and give us some updates over the winter.

Another gorgeous day. I was working at Luna Park today. Anyone remember the Rotar? Lol. Well twas fixing it up. Poor old girl is falling apart.
The city and harbour looked absolutely pristine under stunningly blue skies this morning. God I love this city. (except for the traffic) - lol.

It is chiefly the low, misty cloud and endless drizzle/sleet or snow showers that I hate about southerly-dominated winters. Snow can be a nice touch if it's sunny afterwards—overcast skies are the foremost problem. I like my summers hot, dry and stormy; my winters cold, sunny and frosty; more continental.

Thunderstorms are an epic form of cloud, however grin

The Rotor. School bus trips in the early 70's. Oh memories.
Orange airport looks to have had the greatest diurnal range today with a 24.3 degree spread.

The rotor - great when vomit moves around the wall to a captive soul.

Totally different day up here, apart from some sunshine around sunrise for an hour or so, it has been a mainly overcast day, deceptively warm, very little wind and it nearly hit 25c.

The Rotor. Lol.
Went on it once and never again. Thankfully I avoided the vomit, but walked out not feeling so well myself. Too much fairy floss beforehand me thinks. I was 14 at the time. smile
Anyway, a beautiful day as I said earlier, but a rather cloudy, overcast evening now. Loving these cooler temps, but alas, the warmth is set to return. Sigh.

Yes the warmth to roll on Homer. Courtesy of reinvigorated low belt in our tropical north. For most of the season it was dead as far as FNQ goes. Now flooding.
The northwards high belt migration towards the Brissie latitude gets stalled whilst low pressure hangs around up north.

Eventually by winter you'd like to see more of this kind of synoptic vis s vis the high belt.
Note that even though this synoptic pic from Aug 2013 looks like a good positioning of highs to allow some beefy fronts thru, in its context it was a very warm August in Sydney and elsewhere. Almost record setting as far as av max goes. I post it just as a visual of high belt at a nice latitude.

Yeah the rotor isn't much fun. Went on it last year and was slowly slipping down it lol.

Dave and AW should swap places. AW would love the frosty sunny winters.

The Rotor was also an embarrassing ride.
Your jeans were stuck to the wall while the rest of your body slid down the wall.......hence, your jean shape around the crutch area took on an exposed look of the appendage area. Could be rather awkward at times. :))) Same thing happened to the girls. Rather uncomfortable for both genres.

Good point mate about Dave and AW's choices for winter. They should do a swap/sell. smile

Average sort of a day in the end, in fact very nice shoulder season weather with the high diurnal range and cool night. (9-25C)
Antarctic Whaler as a new member not a fan of the cold by the looks of it, but then lives in one of the coldest areas of the state (had to look at Google Maps, near Oberon), so maybe it has started there already. Good place for a snow chaser, doesn't have to go too far.

Greetings from Esperance, WA

Can you send some of that warm sunny weather over this way thanks. Although it has been good hiking weather.

Wow fantastic, I love the 2nd one. I didn't realise how white the sands were over that way.

Hahaha Homer that didn't happen to me, my whole body slid down slowly.
