Tomorrow afternoon a weak southerly change through the Sydney Region. By Sunday it'll be back around 30 degrees....

But I am enjoying the nice coolish feel to the mornings since last week.

Currently 32.2C here in Southern Canberra, feels just like summer under the hot sun.

Warm day, and peaking late like yesterday after only mid 20s at lunchtime, but not reaching the forecast of over 30C. (certainly not complaining about that).
Good Friday looks to be warmer though, as does Easter Monday.

And to confirm it's still summer, Mardie in WA equals the Australian record for the hottest temp after March 21st. A 45.9 so far today. The record was only broken yesterday at Roebourne. Cripes. Mardie might even go higher before day is over in WA.
Autumn on hold. April more of same. Prob records fall too. Australia can't shake the summer loose. Pissant changes. Nothing juicy. @@@k it

Autumn on hold.

We used to hear a lot more from Nyang Station back in the day too. (I think now called Emu Creek Station).
But incredible sustained heat in the Pilbara, that is for sure.

The top 10 sites for hottest temps in March are in WA as a matter of fact.

Having lived and worked (& schooled) in Hedland the Pilbara can be quite a warm place. Not surprised at the heat there.

Apart from the Kimberley, there is more seasonal lag over there.
Perth's hottest temp is in late February, at the current and at the old site as well.
Looks like summer though here, standard week, not autumnish at all.
At least the chance of very high temps from here, eg high 30s, has pretty much gone.

There's currently dew on the ground here and yet it feels like a summer's night.

Loc: Melbourne (Belgrave); Corryong...
Hey guys! Reporting from Corryong, Northeast Victoria for the Easter weekend. smile

My family and I left our home in Belgrave at approximately 3:15pm yesterday afternoon. At 4pm we reached Lilydale and exited the Melbourne metropolitan area, heading north through the Yarra Valley. After refueling in Yarra Glen around 15 minutes later we continued up the Melba Highway to Yea, facing heavy traffic for much of the way.

By 5pm we turned northwest along the Goulburn Valley Highway, reaching Seymour around 5:20pm. Shortly before 5:30pm, we were heading north along the M31 Hume Freeway (Melbourne-Sydney), stopping for dinner in Euroa between 6-6:30pm.

At 8pm we made it to Albury/Wodonga, where we stopped to refuel the car once more and also to buy groceries and have a drink and snack. It was nice to be able to cross the Murray River into NSW/ACT once again! smile

At around 9:20pm we travelled east along the Murray Valley Highway, arriving in Corryong at approximately 10:50pm this evening.

Weatherwise it was truly glorious autumn conditions yesterday. The early morning cloud over Melbourne gradually broke up and cleared as the day progressed, and by lunchtime it was warm and sunny with a cool breeze. The temperature in Belgrave ranged between 13.7C and 27.9C yesterday.

By the time my family and I had left home for our weekend trip up north, the clouds had cleared off to the southeast, towards Gippsland. Otherwise it was clear skies with abundant sunshine, followed by a beautiful sunset between Benalla and Wangaratta, and a near-full moon and twinkling stars after nightfall from Chiltern and Barnawatha onwards. smile

However, it was very hazy and there were plenty of smoke plumes from autumn burn-offs/control burns, firstly in the Toolangi State Forest, and later out across the vast open Northern Plains from Nagambie right up into the NSW Riverina.

On the car thermometer, temperatures were around 23-25C through the Dandenong Ranges and Yarra Valley, but it quickly grew hotter as we headed north from Melbourne over the Great Dividing Range into the Murray-Darling Basin. By the time we reached Yea it was 28C, and just north of Seymour, in the Mangalore/Avenel region, it topped around 29-30C.

Heading north up the Hume as nightfall approached the temperature dropped very, very gradually. It was 28C in Euroa, 27C in Benalla, 26C in Wangaratta, and 25C at 8pm in Albury/Wodonga.

By the time we left the Border region at about 9:15pm it was 23C, and the temperature dropped more sharply (but with wild fluctuations) as we headed east to the Upper Murray. It was 20C at the Sandy Creek Inlet of Lake Hume, then ranged between 17-21C past Tallangatta all the way to the hills just east of Bullioh.

Up at Koetong and Shelley, it was around 14C. Then as we descended to Berringama, it bounced back up to 18C, but plunged to 12C in Lucyvale! eek

The remainder of the drive, from Cudgewa right through to Corryong, it was ranged between 15C and 17C.

Wangaratta and Albury/Wodonga were the hotspots yesterday, both topping around 32C. Melbourne ranged between around 17-21C, while Corryong's temperatures were between about 8C and 30C.

At the last check it was around 13C in nearby Khancoban, NSW. Very nice calling breeze this evening. Should dip to about 8C tonight and top 29C here in Corryong tomorrow, with patchy morning fog and smile haze but otherwise sunny. smile

I noted some lovely autumn colours in the Dandenong Ranges and Yarra Valley btw.

And according to Goulburn-Murray Water, Lake Hume is currently around 41% capacity.

Pity the vegetation looked parched and dry during the drive. Hopefully some good rains are on the way later this autumn and coming winter. frown

Looking forward to posting here on the forum again, especially up here in Corryong over the Easter weekend.

Detailed report as always ASF Enjoy Easter.

Big fog this morning.
Well with one day of min temp remaining and two days of max, there won't be any records broken at Nobbys. The temps required are out of the question. The av min will end up around half a degree below the record. The av max about a degree or so under.

Interesting you mentioned the seasonal lag Derek. The lag prolongation in WA at the moment. Near 46 ers for multiple days is off the charts.
The lag is echoed here.
Reason for longer lag in a non El Nino year. I have no idea.

@Eddy. Persistent fellow aren't you he he he

No fog here but ultra humid with 100% humidity. Maybe there was fog earlier this morning. There's quite a big inversion and once that breaks it's going to be a hot day. High Range at 830m is on 23C (meanwhile Moss Vale just 13C) and Mt Boyce at nearly 1100m is 20C so the air above is certainly warm.

PS: Ended up being a coolish morning here with 12C.
