Getting warm now, and may well get the forecast with a late surge.
Yeah, certain topics like CC/ GW are politically incorrect to challenge these days.
One thing that is of note, is that an autumn daily record has not been beaten for a long time at OH and some other places.
Edit: I forgot about the April record in 2016. (which beat the 1986 April record, which I also recall had a very hot late March as well)
Happy Birthday to CoastalStorm22 as well, hope you enjoying Perth and WA, late March is a perfect time of the year over there, esp with the seasonal lag.

Rubbish. Yeah, no. I don't find any CC/CW discussion/divergent viewpoints "offensive" on the forum. I am very open minded about it. In fact I am attracted to discussion re the 'imminent mini ice age/solar minimum' as a predominant weather driver.

That's for another forum hey.

Obviously, it was the other needless tagging added in at the end of that particular post that I do find "offensive", which was completely unrelated to the weather topic at hand. In Whaler's mind that cr.. Ok. In mine - NOT. Call me being politically correct here on this or whatever - talk to the hand.

That kind of cr.. should be called out everytime IMO. Anyways, mod intervention has taken care of that.

Indeed, this forum does not like it.

Anyway an autumnal 33C in Camden right now.. lol. It has also hit 30 at Bathurst.

Just saw the Oberon forecast of 31C, your nearest major town, may not get there though.
But then 30C on the 1st April, could break the 1986 record there?!

I very much doubt it will score 31° C even at the 1,090 m AMSL station in Springbank (Oberon's weather station), let alone up here. I damn hope it cops near about 30° C, but even that is looking quite frail.

Penrith hit 35. Just a mild 30 plus this side of Lake Mac.

26.2° C and sunny; feels like 25.7° C. Relative humidity 24%, dew point 4.1° C. Wind chiefly WSW, squalls gusting 17.9 knots (9.2 m/s; 33.1 km/h); fresh breeze. UV index very high/severe.

Norway, Black Springs, NSW; 1,208 m AMSL; 33° 45' 38.67" S.

Dew point & RH% decreased; squalls increased with the wind direction chiefly to WSW rather quickly! smile

The Oberon forecast defaults to the WZ option (in this case, the fully automated WZ Opticast), given the variable terrain around Oberon perhaps its location has been automatically plotted at a lower elevation than it is (not sure how big its grids are, but to provide an idea, BOM's automated MetEye in NSW has 6km x 6km grids). This might be a case when you could find the Oberon forecast produced by BOM more suitable (click on the BOM option within that forecast table). It currently has today's max temp forecast as 27ºC and tomorrow's is 23ºC. For Oberon, the BOM forecast is produced by the automated BOM OCF (OCF combines eight different models and favours those which have performed the best recently).
If you hover the cursor over the temps/wind etc on the forecast, it will show the source of the information too.

I could be wrong about this but I think that 35 is warmest for this time of year at current Penrith site. I think the record in Syd area for hottest day after the equinox in March is 39.8 from Richmond on 28th March 1940. If so, that won't be beat this March.

I would think that all aspects of registering should be responsible - the handle chosen of Antarctic Whaler is offensive in itself and I would respectfully recommend it be changed.

I think that's going too far DVC. Where does it end?
Avoiding the unmentionable topic is fair enough. But finding personal offense in every screen name a person might have is PC on steroids. Might as well all call each other B1 etc

And regardless of the positives and negatives of past seafaring activities (as viewed from the modern day and age), weather forecasting has it's roots in the nautical tradition.

That's my ten cents worth.
Think this will heat up fast he he

@Teddy . Mardie got over 45 again today. Port Hedland was mild by comparison.
Mardie recorded hottest temp on planet yesterday. Maybe same today.

Appreciate your opinion and mine is not an overreach into correctness as you indicate, but all others have managed brevity and relevance in this space out of respect for others, a simple concept.

Well if you look at Antartic whaler's profile it says he was a Whaler, trophy hunter, fisherman, grazier. So my guess is that was his occupation at some stage. Whaling in Australia stopped some time in the 70's from my hazy memory. It was a perfectly legitimate operation back then.

Getting back on topic, 31.2C here this arvo quite windy and very dry with that wind. That's not too unusual but quite a few degrees up on average for late March I guess. The nights are a lot cooler which makes sleeping good as we had 1C the other morning just to remind us that the frosts will be coming. In the meantime guess we will be enjoying the warm sunny weather.

Cheers Teddy
