Some towers to my South-West appears most of the action so far is in the Illawarra. Let's see though the sun is really out in my neck of the woods.

Telltale signs in parts of stress starting to appear in some vegetation. Rain needed soon. This run of warmth hasn't helped.

ECMWF only going for 12 mm in the next 10 days for my area which is an improvement to the 2-3 mm a few days ago. GFS not looking crash hot either.

Some towers about as others have mentioned, a storm would be pretty awesome this afternoon but we'll wait and see.

Almost in record warmth territory at current Bathurst ap site. Don't think Dave would be too thrilled.

There was some interesting cloud development to the SW about an hour ago but I couldn't get a clear view for a picture. At the moment, there's just a mess of mid-level cloud obscuring any structure.

The radar shows a lightning-active storm moving over the Royal National Park.

Still hot and still here but the Southerly (a fairly weak one so far) is moving through Sydney.

5 minutes of light rain and a few distant rumbles.
Still warm and humid. A very weak southerly as Steve said.
Better than nothing I suppose.
Now 4 more above 30 degree days for Penrith in the 7 day forecast.
I can't wait for this to end. I'm over it now.

Yeah it was a nice little storm Kino. I can hear some more rumbling but a check of the radar shows that it's to the north and won't reach here. It's pretty loud actually. It has been a long long while since any kind of storm here, I've been lazy with my storm tally but I'm pretty sure March was stormless.

PS: Thanks for the pic A2A, looked like that here too but when it was far to the NE.

You couldn't ask for a better long weekend weather wise for all the tourist or Ice Cream Vendors, although I'm glad to see the back end of all the terrorist, oops I mean tourist. laugh

At least we have some storms to talk about, I'm over hearing about this warmth we've been having. grin

Thanks for sharing A2A, I have forgotten what a storm cloud looks like.

Heat is oppressive. Almost 32 today this side of Lake Mac today. 32 at Warners Bay around 3pm.
That Penrith forecast Homer is almost unbelievable. How much more of this can people stand out there.

I'm loving the warmth. Today there was barely a zephyr (to quote Tim) with stifling humidity and now a storm. Four perfect days. Saturday was a bit disappointing but hey, could've been a lot worse; more cloud and cooler etc.

I guess I'll be adding knot to my Homer list; if they're complaining then I am delighted.

Should do a random poll - do you prefer the classic Sydney Easter of rain or this weather? Go to the Easter Show, ask a random sample of 500 and see what the results are.

Just a couple of distant rumbles and a couple of spits here.

----

The forecast for the coming week still looks like what you would expect in January.

----

30 degree days @ OH this season:

Code:
     OLD NEW
Sep: 2 -
Oct: 2 2 (from 18th)
Nov: 0 0
Dec: 6 6
Jan: 5 8
Feb: 4 7
Mar: 3 3
Apr: 1 ?

So 23 compared with a recent average of about 16. Maybe one or two more to go. The new site, less exposed to the sea breeze, has probably had about 29 counting today.

Actually today the heat was pretty bad today at the Easter Show there were quite a few instances of heat stress out there.

I have noticed that the new site is registering slightly cooler during extreme heat when the sea breeze is not in play. That would make the standard deviation even tighter than the old site which is small compared with, say, the airport.

It was ideal Easter weather and I think it wil be a long time before we see another Easter like it. My guess is that next Easter will be cool and rainy as usual. I'd ask a random sample of tourists that travelled down or up the coast for the long weekend.
